Spice - YA book

This is definitely a what did I just read book. But it is very well done.

A group of kids go on their senior trip but end up stuck in a time loop. Beginning their version of Ground Hog day. It is told from multiple point of view. I think it should a perspective of teen nature and how they thought and interacted. It was different to be able to replay the day and modify what they didn’t like.

It’s interesting to see personalities change where there is no consequence to their actions. Some tried to solve the problem others saw a chance to live above the law. Sorry to be generic but you have to read it to understand all the different perspectives l.

I wish I could have selected the word "weird" when describing the mood of this book. All-over-the-place fiction reads very fast and will make you laugh. At times, I thought, "This is stupid," but I couldn't put the book down. I just needed to know...things! It is advertised as a satire but has romance in the passenger seat. I found some of the characters unimportant, while others I grew to love. Don't take it too seriously, it is a sun read. This book definitely took me by surprise!

**This book does have a list of trigger warnings. It is a dark humor rom-com**
This book while there were some dark moments, was still a fun read. I didn't want to put it down because there was always something going on in every single chapter. There were moments that I was wondering what I was reading because there was just pure chaos. I absolutely loved it, I will reread this one.
If this book wasn't on your TBR, I definitely recommend adding it.

~A huge thank you to Entangled Teen Publishing and Jessica Warman for the Repeat After Me book box!~

I think this was supposed to be funny more than anything? Like, that was the primary driving force and it just wasn't my sense of humor. It also meant that everything else was--Okay, so the humor (which I think was the point) got acting coaches, endless practice run-throughs, voice lessons, etc., it was the star of the show, and it was performing on a stage held together with like six nails, smooshed into shape by a person who had only ever heard a stage described, and with a cell phone flashlight taped to a beam as the primary source of illumination.

That's not to say it was poorly written or anything. Writing-wise, it was fine. There's definitely skill there. But that's not how I think anyone would act in any situation. And I think that's not the point, right? The "funny" is the point. But I can't get past how..... none of that seems like anything anyone would do ever. That's not how people's brains do, y'know? *coughs*

Anyway, YMMV but this one was super not for me and the only reason it's not at one star is because I think I just disliked it so much because it's so not my cup of tea and not because it failed at what it was trying to do - I think it actually probably completely succeeded at what it was trying to do. I just hated what it was doing, lol.

Made it 20% through and decided to DNF. Way too much left field, random stuff shoved in there for shock value. I understand this is satire, but this is just. No. Teens obsessed with sex, pubic hair filled teddy bears, I’m good. Maybe if this was set with adults it would be a bit different.
