I thought the first one was written better. This one could have been 200 pages shorter with Sykes just repeating the same thing over and over. Sal gets into trouble. One of the merry band saves her. She gets angry. She protects her lover. Repeat. However, not many books have made me laugh out loud, but the characters are hilarious sometimes.

I'll just say:
-There is a difference between character development and characters still doing the same thing they've always done but whining about it while they're doing it. Also, whining about it over and over doesn't do anything new.
-After your main character gets into a near certain death situation and is rescued by a secondary character (whose main function is to rescue the main character from near certain death situations) multiple times your main character starts to look way less cool.
-In a heist book, the stakes aren't raised when the plan goes wrong if the audience doesn't know what the plan was anyway. Because you don't really know if it's going wrong or not. If you want the reader to say, "Oh no! Things have gone wrong!" they need to actually know things have gone wrong.
-Be careful surrounding your main character with people more interesting and competent than they are, because readers would rather you wrote a book about them than your main character.

Same criticisms as the last book, but hey, I still ate it up. And if Liette is not in the next book thats it for me #team salette

Started out w the same thoughts as before. It seems overly edgy, albeit funny as well. However, it grows on me, and the story is insane and cool. It's like berserk; she's getting revenge from those who wronger her terribly, and trying to protect someone makes her struggle between revenge and letting go for those you love. The plot is ripe with twists, betrayals, etc. Destruction follows as if she's Vash the Stampede, but actually a killer instead of pacifist. I root for her and Liette. The magic system is fascinating, the world politics as well, and the Eldest/Wisest/Strongest Scrath things make me wonder what's happen next. Seems like her list, revenge, isn't most important anymore. Like Guts, saving Casca/Liette will become the focus. Sal has even come to rely on a group, despite being a loner in nature. By the end, I'm heavily invested in the twins, in Agne, and even Meret. Excited for the next book in the series.

It feels like forever since I read the first book, but Sal The Cacophony comes roaring back in book two of this series.
This one had everything I loved about the first one and brings it up a notch. Sal is such a fantastic character, but she's surrounded by some great supporting cast as well.
This book revolves around a heist, has plenty of action, lots of magic, a badass gun, and of course Sal's personality.
I'm very much looking forward to the concluding book in the trilogy to see how everything turns out.
