A great book for someone starting out with the concept of financial independence. It was a bit repetitive for me, but I think that was because so many people in the FI community use the material in this book as the starting point for their own work.

I plan on recommending this book (and mrmoneymustache.com) as starting points for friends and family who want to know what the whole FIRE thing is about, without listening to me go on about it ;)

I feel sick to my stomach looking at the cash I've been keeping in my .02% interest student savings account for the past five years.

This book seems like a must-read for people like me who aren't necessarily comfortable with investigating, mostly due to a lack of knowledge. It's clear, direct, and the plan Jim lays out really is simple enough to ease my fears. It's also entertaining and well-written, I caught myself tearing up a bit when I read the section near the end about what he told his daughter.

3.5 stars: if you are in your 20s and American, it's a 5; in your 30s and American, it's a 4.5; 40s & American, 3.5; in your 50s & American, it's a 2.5. Not American? 2-3, depending on your age.

In short: excellent book to read if you are just starting out & American.

Worth noting: it would have been better to read than listening to it via audio for me, math not being one of my strong points. Too many numbers/stats for the way my brain works to fully comprehend/pay attention to without seeing them.

Great Book! Highly recommended

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read many financial books and this one made the most since. I will definitely read this yearly. Can’t wait to read more of the notes I took.

He presents another great argument for index funds and actually only uses 2 instead of an allocation of funds. I really appreciate the simplicity and straightforward advice.
