Ouch, that was the first one in this series that was actually painful to get through. The plot was never will defined. Marc's parts were formatted to look like silly interludes, but they were plottier than Betsy's plot. It was written so spasmodically like MJD was hurrying to meet a deadline and only started writing this book the night before.
though this is the 8th book for the series, betsy still humor me. got to know know about mark more too. now really wondering if betsy's dad is actually have some kind of super power or something because the 3 kids he fathered, are vampire queen, devil's daughter and also baby jon who got superpower also. hurm.
When I first started this series, I was really into it and couldn't put the books down. I didn't like the last book as much, and I liked this one even less. There were a few interesting things in this book, but I just didn't feel there was enough action. It had so much potential to be better than it turned out. I really had to fight to finish it. I think I'm going to take a break from this series before I read on.
This installment isn't as funny as the earlier books of the series, but it is an interesting chapter in the lives of Betsy &co. I say "chapter" because these books are all small in total content, and this one really felt like more needs to follow. (Just what is going to happen with Laura-child-of-Satan? What's going on with BabyJon's strange development?) While the book came to an ending of sorts, MJD could have developed this one a bit more.
The first couple of books in this series were great, now I think Davidson is just trying to get a paycheck. Alas. I'll keep reading until she's finished with the series because I want to know what happens, but the wait for something exciting has long been over.
Not the best in the series, but still good. It dealt with some sad subjects (death, real death not the undead variety) so was a pretty sad read a lot of the time.
Just as hideous as previous ones by MJD -- very disappointing. I abandoned it.
