Since school ended, I feel I have been devouring books. This is another one, a very quick & easily digestible book. I know I am an easy grader, but I score Betsy the Vampire Queen books differently that I would a great work of literature. I relaxed while reading it, felt some genuine suspense with the Laura developements and enjoyed learning more about the werewolves (I have to look up the Morgan leFay character & see what was written about her.) So that is a 4 star experience for me!
Most of these have been a pretty quick read for me but I struggled with this one for some reason. I enjoyed the story well enough, as usual, but found myself annoyed with Mark and Laura for their crap. Once I got rolling again it was fine, leaving a ton of stuff unresolved of course, but I generally enjoy Betsy and Sinclair and (spoiler alert) am glad Tina is ok.
I really like the first book in the series, but my enjoyment my has diminished with each book. This one I couldn't finish; it was just too silly. It will be my last.
Things just keep getting worst and worst for Betsy. And it doesn't help that her half-sister, daughter of the devil herself, loses her mind for awhile. Another good entry in the series.
I've read this series, 1-8, all the while hoping it would get better. It didn't. The author seems to write well enough, but there's nothing about this series that's compelling. The main character is self-absorbed and narcissistic. The only time she ever seems to think about her loved ones is when one of them are about to die. She's also stupid. It's great for main characters to have flaws, but the only redeeming quality of this one is... she's the almighty vampire queen with tons of cool powers. And great shoes. Maybe there's some character growth in this series, but not for her, not in the first eight books. In addition, the plot of each book was as thin as a toothpick. It's amazing how little the author was able to pack into almost 300 pages of text. I would only recommend these books to someone I don't like very much.

I really like the new Betsy. I’ve always liked her, but now I feel like she is much better as a person and as the Queen of the Vampires. While the last book was definitely the turning point, the changes are much more defined here. I’ve always been kind of meh to Sinclair. I still don’t like how little we know about him. It’s what, eight books in now, and I can’t tell you much about him. Same thing with Tina. Jessica and Marc are definitely favorites of mine. They seem to be going through changes too. I was always enamored with them, but I am now. Laura is… I don’t know how I feel about Laura. Sticking with the trend here, she is changing too.
There are two pretty big plot arks here. Unlike a lot of her books in this series, Davidson made the ending worth it. Beyond worth it. The plot wrap ups are given the attention they deserve (finally). I want this to continue. It was always a bit disconcerting for the plot to wrap up in a page, maybe two.

Betsy's just getting too whiny...she's starting to make me nuts.
Werewolves cause problems for the Vampire royal team, Devils daughter causes problems, Baby issues, dead vamps, Unseen baby, helpless human. There is a lot happening in this short book story. It felt rushed, I would have liked have seen more involvement with the characters. I gave it four out of five stars because it felt like it just skimmed through their stories. I love MJD as a writter, I hope the next more has more of her trademark details.
