Unexpectedly Deep

I thought I was starting a lighthearted, romantic read- which is great, for some days. However, I didn’t know i was going to read something so emotionally thought-provoking, exploring a topic I hadn’t expected. I am majorly impressed with the delicate way CK dealt with such a sensitive issue.
That said, this was a great story and I can’t wait to read more about this quaint, shoreside town!

This story is such a great romance. I am so impressed that this is Claire Kingley’s first published romance novel. The detail of this story presents her as a seasoned romance novelist. It is no wonder that is exactly what she became. She created a beautiful town in Jetty Beach, two wonderful and complex main characters, some fabulous side characters (many whom are future story leads), and a storyline beyond just the romance.

Nicole and Ryan have known each other since childhood, but moved away and lost touch. When they run into each other again in town, they both have complex pasts, but find something in the other they have needed. They struggle to find the right path, but when they do it really is beautiful. I love this story on so many levels.

This audio! It’s so good. Samantha Brentmoor is Nicole perfection. She adds so much dimension to the character. Jacob Morgan as Ryan could not have been any better. His ability to vary his tone and delivery was so good. Both are such wonderful actors and made this a top notch audio.

More like a 2.5 stars. Hated the hero and wanted more from the heroine! Maybe the worst hero i've ever read in a book!

I could not put it down. Nicole and Ryan were such a love able couple. Through the good and the bad, the happiness and the depression, their love for each other could not be denied. A true love story. So glad the topic of depression made it into a book that took the honest struggle and not only made it realistic, but made the reader understand the illness. Great read.

If This Isn't Love...
Really loved this story!! For a debut novel, it definitely didn't read like one. Ryan and Nicole are perfect each other, but at the most imperfect time. Ryan, gosh there aren't words for this guy here. He seriously stills your heart. Big kudos to Kingsley for taking the time to ensure the accuracy of Ryan's medical issue. My aunt personally went through the same thing so his character resonated so deep with me. There was something about his character that was so appealing you can't help but be attracted. Claire Kingsley wrote a story that was sexy and sweet with an emotional kick. I can't wait for Must Be Crazy! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

While i enjoyed this book, i didn't love it. I did like that she talked about clinical depression, but the get together at the end was just to quick for me.

Nicole and Ryan’s story was sweet and full of emotions and I really enjoyed it. This was a great debut novel from Claire and I can’t wait to check out the rest of the series. I listened to the audiobook and both narrators were new to me and they did good with the narration.
