lighthearted fast-paced

Cute graphic novel about growing up with a sister.

I loved this book so much! I cried!
lighthearted reflective slow-paced

The sister sister relationship growing up how varies from best friend to fighting however always there

Loved!

I see this (and Telgemeier's other works) get checked out a lot, and picked it up to flip through just to get a sense for the tone and why it's so popular. Got hooked and ignored my other current reads to speed-read this instead. I especially like how poignantly it portrays some of the awkward where-do-I-belong feelings of age 14ish and the pain of being ignored by someone older who you look up to (in this case the main character's cousin Lyndsay).

Just like car trips with my sister.

Sisters is the sequel to Smile, but reads just fine without having read Smile. Raina has always wanted a little sister to play with and share memories, but once she finally has a little sister, she realizes how annoying younger siblings can be. Not only does Raina have to deal with a pesky younger sister, her parents' marriage seems to be suffering and she has to deal with all of this when she goes on a road trip with her mom and sister. I really liked this graphic novel because Raina didn't skip the hard topics; everyone deals with trials in their lives, and Raina depicted them well.

This was fun. Funny, too. I liked it better than the last one.

Sisters is another very fun graphic novel memoir from Raina Telgemeier. One of the best things to watch in her books are the facial expressions. As a teen, Raina clearly rode an emotional roller coaster and it shows in her face.

Of course, sibling interactions can be quite amusing to watch. Raina and her sister in particular know how to push the other's buttons and seem to take great pleasure in this activity.

My students will love watching the two girls driving each other up the wall. Many will also be able to relate to family road trips. This one is quite a doozy.

I am happy to have another amusing books to place in the hands of Smile fans. They have been clamoring for more.
