Sisters is another very fun graphic novel memoir from Raina Telgemeier. One of the best things to watch in her books are the facial expressions. As a teen, Raina clearly rode an emotional roller coaster and it shows in her face.

Of course, sibling interactions can be quite amusing to watch. Raina and her sister in particular know how to push the other's buttons and seem to take great pleasure in this activity.

My students will love watching the two girls driving each other up the wall. Many will also be able to relate to family road trips. This one is quite a doozy.

I am happy to have another amusing books to place in the hands of Smile fans. They have been clamoring for more.

We read this for mother/daughter book club. I’m not a fan of graphic novels as they feel very choppy to me. This was no exception.

Such an excellent representation of growing p with a sister.

Man, this book was GREAT. I love how real to life Raina and Amara are, which makes sense given the autobiographical nature of the book. Lots of smiles as I remembered being a girl with a younger sister myself. Highly recommend, though based on the sales at my bookstore, your kid has probably already read this. :)

ARC from ALA. Pub date August 2014.

Cute kids graphic novel memoir. Continues the story with the family from SMILE. Sibling rivalry at its best-and so normal! I think kids will relate and parents too.

I had no idea there was going to be a sequel to Smile. I love everything Raina Telgemeier writes and Sisters was no different. Sisters tells the story of Raina and her sister Amara's rocky relationship. Before Amara is born, Raina can't wait to have a sister. Once she arrives it is another story however. They are completely different and don't really get along. They fight and squabble and are interested in different things. Things come to a head when the family takes a cross country car trip. As the oldest of three girls I could completely relate to Raina and Amara. You always love your sisters but you don't always like them (especially during those tween/teen years). I thought the fights were pretty typical as was the instances where they were allies. Another winner from Telgemeier.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. It had mostly black and white illustrations so I can't wait to see what it looks like in full color.

This book reminded me of my younger years with my sister. All sibling relationships are similar!
