Wow! What an amazing book. The story building and character development was incredible. I was hooked from the first page. The twists and turns came out of nowhere, and it was not a predictable plot. Which was amazing. It is a slow burn romance, but the suspense and build up is necessary for the storyline. And it was so well executed
Omg what did i just read?!? Soooo good! Pam Godwin is such a queen! Definitely check the TWs bc there is some pretty dark stuff.
This book constantly had me on the edge of my seat. Often I felt just as confused as Frankie. All the twists and turns were

I always get a major book hangover after finishing a Pam Godwin book. She's the queen of dark, disturbing romance.
I feel a personal sense of loss now. Gonna go cry.
Traumatic af. Five stars.

This author is very hot or miss with me. I think a lot of my issues stem from being more I to the dark romance side of things than the romantic suspense side of things.
I was intrigued at the start and appreciate that Denver is straight up a villain and not an antihero. However the pacing was really slow for me in terms of tension in the romantic relationships. I don’t care about the survival aspects and was wanting more from the relationship aspects. Loved wolf, was okay on Kodiak, and am not feeling Leo despite the author really wanting me to. What is intriguing me most going into book two is the Monty of it all. Very intrigued by his POVs.
While I’m not sold on it yet I’ll read on to book two.

I should have stopped reading as soon as one of the sons said he calls his dad by his name (and not "Dad") because everyone is too Alpha to submit to a pecking order. LOL WHAT.
I was recommended this book because apparently the main girl is super strong and smart. And to give credit where credit is due, Frankie is a smart girl. She really knew how to bid her time, and slowly gather information. The first 25% of the book covers her first 3 months at the cabin, which I really appreciated. She really took her time to get her bearings and to slowly gather information from her kidnappers.
My main issue with the book is with the men. I know this is suppose to be a Stockholm Syndrome romance so it is hard for me to buy into the romance when each guy was annoying as fuck. Their "I'm so alpha I'm just following my primal instincts" crap was peak Podcast Bros and Andrew Tate. I hated it. Every chapter, there are paragraphs about how beautiful everyone is. Oh the sons are so hot. Oh Frankie is so hot. And it gets worse. There are about 50 different times where Frankie is described as so tiny or small and like a CHILD, while the men are described as huge and massive and giant. Like fine you can have you size kinks but this was not it.
I really should have DNF'd this book.
