Audiobook review on Bourbon & Secrets by Victoria Wilder

Thank you to @homecookedbookspromos & @authorvictoriawilder for the ALC copy of Bourbon & Secrets. All opinions in this review are my own!

Bourbon & Secrets is a romantic suspense story performed by Lee Samuels and Megan Wicks. The story hooks you from the very first chapter, with both narrators immediately drawing you in through their engaging performances. I was captivated right away by the blend of mystery and tension, especially during the pair’s first interaction, where their voices synced perfectly to heighten the drama.

Additionally, Lee and Megan voiced other characters in the story, and it was always easy to distinguish each one during dialogue. While the pacing started off slowly, it gradually built momentum as the plot unfolded, allowing their performances to intensify in step with the rising tension. When it came to emotional depth, both Lee and Megan excelled at making me connect with the characters and truly felt their struggles, which in my opinion elevated Victoria Wilder’s writing. The duet narration format enhanced my listening experience, allowing me to sense the emotions of each character in every pivotal moment. The tension and angst built naturally, making the lead-up to the spicy scenes all the more rewarding—something both narrators delivered with skill and chemistry.

In the end, I highly recommend experiencing Bourbon & Secrets in audio; it’s a performance audiobook lovers won’t want to miss.

I knew it.
I knew that Lincoln was my soulmate.
And I’m so glad I listened to this story. The audio is narrated in duet by Megan Wicks (I adore her—she has this slightly smoky grain in her voice that makes Faye the perfect sassy, strong character) and Lee Samuels (the perfect Lincoln in every way).

Faye is sharp-witted and stubborn—the kind of heroine I love.
Lincoln is a devoted father to two smart, sassy, and hilarious girls (11 and 9) but a guarded man at heart. After a past night of blood, blackmail, and a kiss neither of them forgot, five years later she’s back under the glitter of a burlesque stage, tangled in an FBI investigation.

The chemistry between Faye and Lincoln is electric—full of banter, jealousy, and grudging trust. The tension is top notch.

I honestly couldn’t put this down—it’s the perfect mix of slow-burn tension, small-town drama, and characters that feel real enough to walk off the page.

Never fall for a Foxx brother.
Too late—two out of three.
And I’m so ready for Ace & my girl Hadley.

A charming single dad with a dark side falls for a woman with an even darker one.

The Bourbon Boys are back—this time featuring Lincoln, a swoon-worthy single dad with slutty little glasses. While the story attempts to hinge on a dramatic past event tiding these two characters together, it felt forced and a bit hard to believe. The writing style doesn’t help; I found myself rereading pages just to understand what was actually happening.

The good? The romance and chemistry between the characters work. Lincoln Foxx is the ultimate romance MMC: a devoted father and fiercely protective family man who’s not afraid to drop to his knees for the woman he loves. Yes, please.

Third-act breakup? Nope.

Happily ever after? Absolutely.

I did not expect the twist at the end.  Lincoln is something else. I loved his relationship with his girls and Faye she was amazing the banter and love hate so good.  I enjoy the bourbon aspect and the specialty blends they make and why they make them.
