I liked this book way more than the first in this trilogy. Better balance of action, tension, romance and banter. Still a light quick read

💬 Another fantastic Bourbon boys book! This one focused on Lincoln, the middle brother and Faye, a burlesque dancer and PI.
I'm pretty sure I mentioned in my review of the first book that I didn't think I liked romantic suspense until I read bourbon and lies, and I feel like that continues to be true with this one.
This current book stage of my life I'm really only interested in books that are heavy on the romance aspect but Wilder does just such a great job mixing the romance with the suspense and it doesn't feel like one ever overpowers the other. Like the romance part is a huge part of it and I appreciated that.
That said, I think I like the first book better probably because of the narrators. This was an audiobook for me and I actually listened to it almost in one complete during a 7-hour drive. I almost feel like you couldn't really tell that it was a duet narration because it felt like the only difference was the character voices. With B&L I felt like there was a lot more chemistry between the narrators and they did a better job of bringing the story to life.
The story itself is fabulous. I got sucked in pretty quick and I liked how Faye didn't take any shit from Lincoln. I also loved how she was so strong and independent and learned how to accept and be her real self.
I also really enjoyed Lincoln's daughters. They were really cute 😂 honestly I'm a sucker for single dad books so he was probably a given that I would love it but still. Got to meet the girls in the first book obviously, but this was really a fun way of learning their personality.
Also to me the chemistry between Lincoln and Faye was just so hot 🔥🔥 I'm surprised my car didn't spontaneously combust 😂
Now I just need my audible credits to renew so that I can listen to the third one

I liked this more than the first simply for the fact that I found it more suspenseful.
