It was good but it wasn't as good as the other books in the series.

Better than okay, but not great or really good. There were parts I liked and parts that were meh.

Even when this book isn’t bad, it’s not even that good. There were a couple of entertaining parts, but definitely not worth reading in the many Alice in Wonderland retellings/sequels

Because I like Liz Braswell’s writing, I will say that I’ve read a couple of her other books in the Twisted Tale series, and she does a really good job of capturing the culture of her characters- whether it be the politics of Agrabah or the French background of Beauty and the Beast. Unbirthday is no different- she does a great job at distinguishing two distinct cultures: the absurd Wonderlandians and the courtships of the English.

Overall: 1.5 ⭐️

My least favorite of all the twisted tales series…. I was not a fan of this book. I’m sad because I love Alice in wonderland and most wonderland retellings! Maybe I was comparing it too much to Heartless (Marissa Meyer) but I just couldn’t get into it. I spent a lot of time on this book, dragging through it.
