4.9⭐️ I don’t know if you’d consider this a slow burn or if it’s exes to lovers but whatever it is it’s a YES! I absolutely loved it! I love reading Kennedy Ryan but this was definitely one of my favorites! I love a good exes to lovers. It’s my favorite trope to read. This book was one of my favorites in that category for sure!

DNF.. might finish later, I’m half way through and the stereotypes of black people + the 8 years of rejecting the love of your life for no reason is irritating the hell out of me.

A pleasant surprise

I read this book without knowing what is was about and it was a pleasant surprise. The story takes us on an unexpected journey . Tackling controversial subject matters in a way that allows the reader to look at both sides. Very well written, interesting, and beautiful. The steamy scenes were “ HOT”.
I look forward to reading more books from this author

This book has Bristol and Grip in each other's lives but not as lovers and not as either would really want. Their lives and changing relationship take centre stage and the challenges I knew they would face are all too apparent.
Grip - what can I say !! - he is a man utterly, completely and irrevocably in love with Bristol. He is a man you feel empathy for and I spent so much time reading the first half of this book willing him to get what he wanted and for him to be happy and content with the love of his life. His internal thoughts just made me love him all the more, he is perfection on so many levels.
Bristol - her denial of her feelings and her pushing him away at every opportunity for such a long time had me asking "what are you thinking gal?"
The exploration of race and Bristol's continuing determination to understand his world led to discussions of history within the US and as a history teacher this educated me further which enhanced my understanding more fully.
As usual this was beautifully written, it is romantic, spicy and able to give all the feelings you would expect from a stunning romance.
If you have not read this, then you are missing out.
Kennedy Ryan isan author I have found this year and I cannot believe I have been missing out. Whatever she writes is exceptional. !!!
