Grip starts eight years later after the event that happened in Flow (the prequel). Growing up with the parents that she has , Bristol fights hard not to be someone like the part of her mom she hates. So for years, she avoided Grip for fear of being left vulnerable and hurt, she even pushed Grip to be with another woman. That drama was fun and frustrating to read about. But I love it. The fact that Grip is a black character and is a rap musician also brings color to the story. I like that the author incorporated the scene where Grip and Bristol were stopped for random inspection on the road; a little cliché but a necessary one. I also like how their struggle as a mix race couple played some big part in the story. All in all, an amazing read.

Not sure how to rate this. I really liked some parts but really hated others. The book was overly long. Bristol just came across as overly bitchy in trying to push Grip away, and it was beyond frustrating because all she really wanted was to be with him. I know Grip wasn't chaste and sitting around waiting for Bristol to pull her head from her butt, but he should've told her to take a hike, esp. after the crap she pulled with an ex-bf. Once they got together, I was happy for them, and I loved their chemistry, but it was painful and far too long to get to that point.

This was a series I'm not sure I would have been into once I found out it was about a manager and rapper. (I'm not that big of a fan of rap music).

I ended up being very surprised and loved the plot, characters, character development, and how the relationship ended up going.

This book touched base on so many topics that need to be talked about and addressed more. Definitely worth the read!

It would be a 4 star if it weren't for a few things:

1. the brushing off of a potential r*pe; for context, the FMC gets so drunk that she doesn't remember wether she had s*x or not, while the man wasn't drunk at all. And it's basically brushed off the whole story, up until the end. Plus, there was some objectification of women, that was even pointed out, that I didn't enjoy.

2. the lack of communication was annoying; he decides to be a player and have all these women constantly while waiting for her to want to be with him. But.... why would she want that.... when you're constantly with other women??

3. I was expecting a bigger connection between the main characters, the week they had together was the only time I felt like they had something special. But, I don't think it was that explored on this book.

However, the storyline was interesting and I was always curious about how they would make things work. The characters were sweet, and loveable; and it spoke of important topics that I found myself getting invested in.
