Who knew that I could relate to the life of a stuffed rabbit. The rabbit was separated from its owner and is capable of thought. The life of Edward was a tumultuous one, and though it was a children’s story book, I cried a lot.

Vain, spoiled, selfish Edward Tulane is a china rabbit who only thinks of himself. But when his Abilene loses him he begins a long journey to find home. Along the way he encounters Nellie & Lawrence, Bull and Lucy, Sarah Ruth and Bryce. Each encounter helps Edward grow to understand what love really is. He learns "You must be filled with expectancy. You must be awash in hope. You must wounder who will love you, whom you will love next."

Edward Tulane's journey is one everybody should take.

This was such a sweet story with a great ending. The narrator was fantastic! Her ability to make so many different voices was truly impressive. This was the perfect book for my 7 and 9 year old daughters.

Very sweet.  I don't usually read children's books, but a friend gave this to me.  Loved that one of the characters had my name (Sarah Ruth).

Edward Tulane, a rabbit made of fine china, belonged to a young girl named Abilene Tulane. While Abilene loved Edward dearly, the rabbit was too self-absorbed and narcissistic to care about anyone else. When Abilene took Edward on an ocean voyage, he was lost to sea. From there, Edward went on a journey: rescued from the water by a fisherman, picked out from a garbage dump by a hobo and his dog, hung up as a scarecrow, given to a young girl who was dying, used in a busking routine, brutally damaged, restored, and--finally--filled with hope and love.

A lovely and heartwarming story about love and hope. A great choice for reading aloud to the whole family.
