Having become more comfortable with the idea of “taboo” romances, I found I got a lot more out of Eyes On Me the second time around. Whilst I find both Mia and Garrett’s personalities still grate on me, I truly appreciate how much they grow as individuals through the story. Mia builds confidence and finds a safe space to explore herself and expand her horizons through Salacious, and Garrett comes to terms with the depth of his mental health challenges and learns to accept help without shame or fear. Given the significance of Garrett’s experiences, I do feel the mental health aspect of his story deserved more depth; more time could have been devoted to this rep without dragging the overall light and playful tone of the novel down.

Heather Costa and Jeffrey Kafer are both new-to-me narrators and I really enjoyed their performance. Costa captured Mia’s sugar sweet sass beautifully, and Kafer’s gritty tone and the sarcastic edge to his delivery suited Garrett to a T. I did find Kafer’s delivery felt disjointed at times, even when I found the sweet spot for his narration’s playback speed, however I’m not familiar with his work to know if it was part of his style or otherwise intended.

Without a doubt Salacious Players Club is becoming one of my favorite series! With Eyes On Me Sara Cate completely surpassed everything Praise made me feel with its characters and story, Graham & Mia took me on a journey that was quite unexpected, fun and with a love story that I LOVED from start to finish.

Mia was a character that I immediately liked, I loved her bright & outgoing personality that she's always willing to make Garrett confront his feelings in one way or another. , plus, I loved that even with her strength and courage she has insecurities and vulnerable moments that make her a much more real and a lovable character. I really liked reading her relationship with Laura and her dad, the support & love she has from both of them, even his relationship with Garrett, withouth the romantic aspect, because reading the small details of his moments with him when she was a teenager it was quite interesting. And without a doubt, the whole plot of Mia as a camgirl was amazing and I really enjoyed reading her on that journey and how it evolved until the end of the book.

One of the main reasons I was excited about this book was meeting Garrett because I fell in love with his character in Praise: I loved his simple, sarcastic, playful and flirtatious side, that's why I was surprised, and I really liked, to discover that he is also a man consumed by his demons and that he doesn't know very well how to deal with them, and this was one of my favorite parts of his story, although I have to say that I was also a little nervous with the way this great aspect of her character was being treated, fortunately I was very satisfied with the conclusion that the author gave him and how in the process she let me see much more of Garrett's vulnerable side, plus it made me very happy to read the importance of his friendship with Emerson.

The other reason I couldn't let this story go was because of the stepsiblings trope because it's one of my favorites! And from the first moment Sara Cate made me love their story so much because in her love story Mia has always been in love with Garrett, but their relationship has never been easy due to the their parents' marriage and the age difference between the two, even so I think that when Garrett begins to feel attracted to Mia, everything evolves in a perfect, fun and very sensual way between them, and one of the things I liked most about their relationship was the way Mia's work as a camgirl and Garrett's work at the Sex Club blended into their relationship and their feelings for each other, of course I also fell in love with the adorable, vulnerable and tense moments between these two and the beautiful ending to their story.

Mia & Garrett were one of the couples I enjoyed the most when I first read this series, and having the opportunity to listen to the audiobook made me love them a little more, especially because this time I was able to recognize the signs of Garrett's depression much better, and that was more painful. Also, Jeffrey Kafer conveyed all the feelings Garrett goes through throughout the book, and I loved that.

Heather Costa was the perfect Mia! Her voice gave me all the innocence, sensuality, and sweetness that I loved so much about her the first time I read her, I also loved hearing her bringing to life her moments with Garrett, the Salacious girls, and finally finding the place where she belongs to.

🇪🇸

ccarn's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH

I just feel like they kept circling back to his relationship with her as a kid and I just couldn't get over the grossness of it.

It's one thing if they're stepsiblings that aren't part of each other's lives or similar ages... but an age gap and "he's been loving out for her for her whole life"? ew.
