This book is a really spicy hot story in the Salacious Players Club series, that features a step brother and his step sister as the FMC and MMC. I enjoyed this a lot the spice was really hot but the way the brother was so mopey and hard on himself made me take a couple points off of my total rating. Still totally worth a read, the SPC is a fantastic series!

the more i think ab this book the more i like it, so i’m bumping up to 5 stars.
i’m actually a little embarrassed by how much i enjoyed this. i will admit that the step sibling aspect was very odd and hard to wrap my head around at times, but it didn’t overshadow the relationship and connection i felt between the main characters. i had 0 expectations going into this bc of the dynamic given in the blurb, but the characters just blew me away. garrett’s issues remind me a lot of the shit i went through in high school. i liked mia a lot and i feel like she and garrett are genuinely really good for each other. and sometimes that’s hard to convey in a book that focuses on men’s mental illness. sara cate did it in a way that didn’t make me feel like mia was acting like a 35 year old man’s mother. they truly felt like partners.

yes, i have returned with more reviews that no one asked for. i read the first book in this series and was OBSESSED so i obviously read this one. although it had a lot of the same elements from the first book that i liked, it was the trope that really prevented me from enjoying it as much as the first. the step siblings to lovers trope is a very slippery slope. and while i pointed out to my roommate that it's not technically incest, describing something as 'not technically incest' doesn't really help it's cause.
i feel like the dynamics of the relationship between Garrett and Mia were very unbalanced because they've known each other since Mia was 8 and Garrett was 21. yes, you read that right. he is 13 years older than her and has known her since she was a literal child. but it's 'okay' because Mia is 23 now and Garrett has never thought of her sexually until recently. i honestly would've been able to ignore these facts if it wasn't mentioned repeatedly through out the book. they literally refer to each other, multiple times, as brother and sister. even after they fuck! like guys, stop. get some help. also the fact their friends AND parents are just completely okay with them being together is CRAZY. like in what world would people support a relationship like this.
summary: i'd like it better if not for the subtle incest

Step brother/step sister was hard to get into at first but I think about the descriptions in this book often. So well written, will definitely read the rest of the series.
Another taboo installment in the series. I liked this one better than the first, but I didn't enjoy the hidden identity for much of the book, and the whole conflict would have been resolved if they had just spoken to one another and had one honest conversation. I did enjoy the emotional elements more than in the first book, and I liked that the MCs got to spend time together away from the club.
i liked this one!!! i’ve never read anything quite like it but i’m so glad i tried it out!! mia and garrett are so cute, unconventional, but also unconditional.
