The ending felt rushed and I didn’t think a lot of the plot points that had been started were tied up. Overall, I liked the series mostly because I like Temeraire. I just was hoping after nine books for a more impactful ending.

Audiobook fans note: It takes a while (more than half the book, actually) but Simon Vance does, eventually, find Temeraire's voice again. A relief, because that last line badly needed the voice.

This was a fun an enjoyable end to the series. I felt the characters and dialog were great but the plot probably could have been better, so it's not all that different from most books in this entire series. While it's certainly not an earth-shattering conclusion, it brings things to a satisfying close.

I'm going to miss the characters but it's also fun to think about how a world with dragons might continue to develop into the late 1800s and early 1900s.

A solid end to the series. I feel like things wrapped up nicely and I look forward to revisiting this world at some point in the future.

I started reading this series in 2007. I may have taken a break some time around the 6th book and only gotten around to reading the last few recently, but damn if Novak didnt write a good series, even if it did lag a bit in the middle. Kudos.

The ultimate battle leaves almost nothing to be desired, and leaves the main duo in a lovely ending. I will say while Lawrence is an admiral during the final few battles he comes into his own in a way that is gratifying. If any books come from this series further they could be interesting even though they would be set up to be more politic than anything.
