I really enjoyed this one. As someone who is obsessed with the legend of Tarzan, I loved Emma’s rendition of the tale, staying true to the original story and yet making it her own.
I really loved the relationship between Thorne and Eden, the slow buildup of getting to know each other and overall just how sweet and heartwarming it was.
I also highly enjoyed the main plot, I loved how Emma weaved in little pieces from other POVs. It really built up a lot tension to see how it would play out, so much so that I ended up binging the second half in one sitting (a rarity for me lately). I loved the added magical realism aspect of the forest coming to life. It felt like an ode to my younger self who wholly believed that the forest was alive. It was charming in a sense.
Overall this was super sweet and has a wonderful HEA that I’m very fond of. I’ll definitely be picking up more of Emma’s books!

First I wanna say the stunning cover is the reason why I even read this book lmao.
I liked how the author was able to bring "Tarzan" into the modern world. She also made it much sexier and, despite my initial misgivings, less racist than the original. I do have some issues with the unexplained spirits and the ending but overall a good retelling imo.

I had such a good time reading this - Thorne was a sweetheart but also fierce when necessary and Eden was such a good match for him. This was really quite insta-lovey but because of the situation it didn't bother me in the slightest. I actually really enjoyed how immediately devoted Thorne was because it just made sense. And honestly that epilogue just hit me all up in my feels.

Thorne is literally the softest hero ever and I would not change him for anything. That is all.
Rating 3.5 ⭐️ As far as retellings go for Tarzan, this one was pretty good. Given that most people know some version of Tarzan there is not much that can be a surprise. I really love how the writer was able to update the story to taking place in modern times. The smut in this book was decently written as well. There is just something about a wild jungle man that only works for this story. The only part of the book that was a little meh for me was the ending. It took a mystical turn that fell a little flat for me. I can see why the writer did this, but to me it just felt like a quick way to make a happy ending for the story.
White saviorism disguised as modern love story. Wtf.
The cultural appropriation of this book is just bizarre to me how this is getting any praise.
The heroine is constantly comparing herself to famous wildlife conservationists when she has done Nothing to achieve that, apart from read a book and buy a camera.
And actually having an African character call the hero A king, Wtf!
African colonization is real. White saviorism is real. If you really want to modernize maybe base your story somewhere else or don't co- opt other cultures.
Even the love story was insta love. Such a disappointment.
