A little on the angsty side for my taste...
It was a pleasant surprise that our protagonist Emma was the college roommate/friend of Saylor from First Flight, Final Fall! The initial hook to this story were the circumstances surrounding Emma's sudden departure from the town of Hayden 9 years ago. I was surprised that the author divulged the whole secret a third of the way in. And I wasn't convinced that how Emma handled everything back when she was a teenager necessarily made sense.
But I am a sucker for a second chance romance, and I liked seeing snippets of Saylor and Beck.

I read "First Flight, Final Fall" before this one, and honestly, even though it's recommended that you read it before this one, you really don't have to. Except for a few Easter eggs, it really does not impact the story in any way. But it is similar to F×4 in the way that there is no unnecessary drama and miscommunication AFTER the the beginning of the current timeline. All in all, it is a nice, quick, lighthearted read.
this book just got more insufferable the more i read. i just did not like any of the characters and wasnt rooting for anyone. these characters were frustrating in a way that wasnt fun or even excusable. just annoying. dont get me wrong i’ve read books with guys who are red flags and have LOVED em anyways! this ml just was not it for me.
i pray this book has not ruined build me up buttercup for me, because it is an all time fav.
