We're finally addressing the Vaughn problem. It's something that's been looming over the characters from book 1, but it hasn't been the main plot until now. First, there was the heist crew, then finding Cam's sister. But Vaughn has still been a presence in the background the entire time, so you get a feeling of finality when he becomes the focus, at last.

Nic has been building a case for a while. It's what he does best and, honestly, I love that the goal here isn't to win some big macho fight, but to collect evidence that can put Vaughn put away for good. Sure, some fight-ish stuff does happen, but it's mostly because Vaughn is a jackass. On Nic and Cam's side, they know what needs to be done, and they're smart about it. I love them for that. And I just love them in general, because they're great guys, and they have a beautiful relationship.

Other than Vaughn, some things from Nic's past come up. I think we all kinda expected that to happen. And for Nic and Cam to truly have their happy ending, it needed to happen. I mean, even a scene that had a predictable misunderstanding, the author found a way to not make it annoying or drawn-out and instead turned it into an essential conversation that Nic and Cam needed to have.

This was a great conclusion to a great series that I very much enjoyed reading. I loved the relationship between the protagonists, I loved that the series valued friendship, and I loved seeing Jamie and Aidan again.

I did find the "family" stuff to be cheesy, and there were still the issues I mentioned in the previous reviews, but overall, I liked almost everything. And even though it doesn't seem likely, I hope we'll get to revisit these characters, maybe in the form of a series following a different couple. Because there are things hinted at that could lead to another series. Fingers crossed!

Excellent finish to the series. Lots of action, suspense, legal wrangling ~ all my favorites. Excellent HEA for Cam & Nic.

Great finish to an amazing series!

I have been waiting for this book since November of last year and I just finished the audio book and it was worth the wait! Loved that while Nic and cam had their relationship issues they were able to stay an united front. And the ending... Ha... So worth all of the wait!

So many twists! Smashing end to the series!! OMG, just awesome!

I loved Cam & Nic! From the start their chemistry is amazing! I haven’t yet read the Agents Irish and Whiskey series these characters are originally from but I didn’t really feel like of was missing anything (other than their meet-cute). They are dynamic and masculine characters with so much heart!!

This story solves ALL the questions and I didn’t seem many of these twists coming! As with the first 2 books, it has its thrills and cases, underlying the story but in this book, all the stories/cases come to a head.

Layla does an amazing job incorporating romance and suspense perfectly! This book was the thrilling climax to an awesome spin-off series and the perfect HEA for Cam and Nic! I loved it!!

4.5 stars!

Cam and Nic have been a fave couple for me alongside Aiden and Jamie, and finally getting the conclusion to their story was awesome, I couldn't put it down - except for the basic human function of sleeping :P.

Cam and Nic are back in this last installment to finally take down Vaughn once and for all, who has been a looming threat since book one.

I did give .5 stars off for not as much romance as I wanted - it was there, but a big part of this book was focused on the case, and Nic's past and all that - and the sex felt rushed, mostly, and given that this was their final book, I feel that those sex scenes, or at least one of them, could have taken it's time and lasted longer.

But ultimately it didn't take too much away from the story, which was exciting and tense and page turning. And despite not as big a focus on Nic and Cam's relationship, it was still there, subtle but strong, and every interaction they had was permeated by their love for each other, and they didn't give up or waver in that love throughout all the ups and downs in this book - even if there was a doubt a few times.

This book tied up all the loose ends well, too - taking care of the moles in the FBI and the Attorney's office Nic worked at, and finally getting Vaughn and Nic and Cam getting to settle down and be happy together. Plus the things from Nic's past that needed to be dealt with, talked about with Cam.

I've loved these two together so much, and I definitely want another short about them, at least, like we got with Aiden and Jamie, and hopefully it can
Spoilerbe Cam and Nic's wedding as well :D Y/Y?

I very much recommend this if you've been keeping up with this series and have been enjoying it. It might not have had as much Nic and Cam together, just them, alone, as I wanted, but it was so good and entertaining and the ending was perfect. Two massive thumbs up from me!

I don’t know why, but I struggled to finish this book. It took me around four months to read this book? I didn’t want this story to end, and yet I thought this series finale was just okay after the intensity that was book two. Don’t get me wrong, it was still very action-packed but there weren’t as many surprises waiting for Nic and Cam.

The bad guys were the bad guys, and the good guys were the good guys, so it was all rather straightforward. There is a pleasant surprise for Nic, I think, but it does come kind of late into the series. I would have loved some additional twists, but this just wasn’t really that kind of book.

I did wind up finishing this book through the audiobook because audiobooks narrated by Tristan James are THE BEST. He brings the characters to life so well. The only downside was that Harlequin audiobooks are no longer available on Hoopla through the library now so I had to wait before I could get the audiobook through Audible when I had a credit to go get it.

I’m also wondering if Eddie will get his own-spin off book? Eddie runs the bar with Nic and he seems awesome? I want him to find his HEA too!

This last book in this trilogy was exactly what the series deserved. All the pieces fell into place, and one by one the plot lines came together and started making more and more sense. I love how much Nic and Cam give for their family, for each other, and how they center each other and have the other’s back. They’re amazing!
