The Devil's Spawn

The Devil’s Spawn is the 4th book in The Devil’s Kiss Series. This series must be read in order. These are DARK books so make sure you look at Gemma James warning.

Now that being said if you love dark books like I do then I am sure you will love to hate Gage Channing.

Gage is a man that you will either love him or hate him because he is “The Devil”. He is one of the most controlling characters that I have read about. Oh he isn’t the only one but, he is high up in the ranks for being very controlling. He wants to control every aspect of Kayla’s life. I think if he could tell her when she needs to use the restroom he would. Not that Gemma James went there with his character. That’s just how controlling of a man he can be.

Kayla can’t seem to help herself and she is so attracted to Gage that she gives up her free will. Kayla keeps leaving Gage only to be brought back into his control. I won’t tell you any more about the book but, if you love pretty dark erotic romances. The Devil’s Series is pretty addicting and at times seems like a “train wreck” (quoting another blogger/friend of mine) that you just can’t pass by and have to just keep on reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I give The Devil’s Spawn 4.5 stars and I look forward to reading more books by Gemma James.

Review for TaSTy WordGasms

This is the 4th book in the series and should only be read after reading the previous 3 volumes.

Kayla and Gage's relationship continues to be tested by issues of trust and threats from their pasts in this fourth installment. Katherine shows us what a crazy bitch she is (for real- she's gotta go), and Kayla stands up for herself more. I would really love to see Gage's POV in all of this- even if only for one chapter. Maybe that will be a spin-off?

The story wraps nicely, though there would be opportunity to continue the series. I suppose we will have to see. If you enjoyed the first 3 installments, you will definitely enjoy this one, which I feel is the strongest in the series.

0.5 This series (4/4)

Christ. I mustve misread the synopisis because in no way is this a romance. I kept reading because I was sure... CERTAIN she must leave this disgusting fuckwod Gage. First, I thought Ian would be better but he turned out to be a massive fuckwod too (you don't get TWO of ur brothers girlfriends preggers by accidents AND as a doctor WHERE ARE HIS CONDOMS FFS)

I detested Gage throughout the series and grew to despise that twotster FMC. (the reverse of an authors objective. Surely?)

I don't know why I kept reading. I was sure she'd leave this dumpster fire of a "relationship".
There was NO SHITTING WAY Gage... Fucking GAGE was the actual mmc. Zero, none, zilch redeeming qualities.
He even got defeated by her abusive ex ffs. No heroes here folks!!!

It's put me in a bad mood off to reread God of Fury to pick my mood back up.

Fuck. This. Shit!!!

I HATE OWD/OMD!!! I DON'T KNOW WHY I DID THIS TO MYSELF!!! FUMIN'

Living with, loving, and married to a sadist is not an easy task. It's especially difficult for the insecure Kayla with an independent streak a mile wide. Or at least it was when they met...

She wasn't originally part of the BDSM lifestyle and so her submission comes at a price. Her previous relationships leave trust a dangling bandaid in a pool. Only a small scrap of adhesive keeps it in place and the slightest provocation could cause you to bleed everywhere.

I was desperate to get to the part reflected in the prologue. I needed to know everything, but as Kayla learns...curiosity can get your ass spanked or worse.

This series has been interesting for me. It's my first with a sadist and the mind set is boggling. I've read several D/s books but never with a sadist at the helm. I can honestly say I can't imagine Kayla's daily life but that kind of devotion could definitely make a girl compromise her freedom. However, I'm way too mouthy.

At this point, this book felt a little unnecessary. The drama got kind of ridiculous. I did feel like it was a more enjoyable read than the first two books. This series is definitely one that gets better as you go on.

Oh my gooodness! This book was so good! Full of twists, turns, and I can't believe I just read thats... lol I enjoy those twists though, but I'm definitely not strong enough to take Kaylas punishments...

Glad to see Katherine get her comeuppance. I didn’t like the 3rd with the heavy presence of Katherine and her b.s but overall this was a great series and a satisfying end. Gage is the most intense hero I’ve ever read and I love dark romance so that’s saying a lot.

Amazingly Ms. James turns the heat up even more in this one. I thought it was as hot and dark as it could get. Boy was I wrong!

At the beginning, before you read word one of the story, we are greeted with this,

'Includes explicit and disturbing subject matter that may offend some readers.'

What it should say is,

"Includes explicit and disturbing subject matter that Will offend and Freak out Most readers!"

Even I have moments of 'EEk! with this series. Lmbo
Those 'EEK! moments are some of my favorite moments!

In this one Kayla finds out she is pregnant with Gage's child. This is something they both wanted but thought they couldn't have. So it should have been happy times, right? Nope.

Kayla once again shows her inability to control her 'Stupid' moments. You would think it would be Gage who causes problems. After all, he is a sadist through and through, and Kayla is his. In his mind he owns every part of her. Every breath, thought, etc.

Safe & sane Gage is NOT.

So what does Kayla do, something she KNOWS will screw with his & her heads.
Through this entire scene (which Gage is not in) I kept thinking, NO! You are not going there!!
But, yep, she does. And she does it knowing she is screwing up.
No wonder Gage tries to keep her every moment under his control.

Not only does the Down-&-Dirty scenes get kicked up to High Propane Super Explosive Hot,
but the suspense gets kicked up a few notches too.

I would have given this one 5 stars, but I found a couple of typos and there was one part towards the end that just seemed out of place for me. I doubt other readers would find that to be the case for them.
For me, it didn't sit right.
The way it was written in felt like a last minute thought to either up the drama or lead to a spin off series.

Note to all; Even though I have each book separately, I also have the 'The Devil's Kiss Series Boxed Set'.
All the stories are exactly the same in the set.

However, at the end of the bundle is 4 extra little stories about Gage & Kayla.
Three of them are Gage's POV. So, if you see it on sale you may want to invest in it. Just FYI.
