Wow wow WOW
This was amazing. So amazing.

I loved the friendship between Mark and Kate. I loved Mark and Kate individually.
Mark's struggles broke my heart. I actually cried because of his pain.
Kate was very relatable to me in many ways.
This book made me incredibly happy and sad and sometimes even annoyed - I loved it so much.
I only wish it would've been a bit longer.

* 4 stars*

I give 4.5 stars to Kate’s storyline and 3.5 stars to Mark’s storyline
I want to start by saying that I enjoyed this book overall; however I did have some issues with it. I loved both of the main characters and their insta-friendship. However, the side characters (with the exception of Ryan & June) left much to be desired.

I enjoyed Kate’s storyline the most. I loved how it was as much about finding her path as it was about her love life. However,I did have any issue with how her relationship with her "best friend" played out. It felt unresolved and false.

I liked Mark's storyline at the beginning of the book, but the ending had me pulling at my hair in frustration. There were just so many issues!!!

All in all, the book gave me a lot of feels, and I really enjoyed the diversity of the characters.

I was so excited to read this book. Ever since reading David Levithan's half of Will Grayson, Will Grayson I wanted to read more of his work. I hadn't read anything by Nina LaCour, but was excited to give her writing a try. The premise to this sounded like a lot of fun, and exactly like my type of book. This was definitely not the case.

I was very disappointed by this book (obviously, given my rating). The two main characters become best friends, that somehow just "get each other", way too fast to be taken seriously. Most of the characters are either forgettable or terrible, and the story isn't anything special. There were a few things that I actually liked, but nothing that could even remotely make up for the rest of the book.

Nina's main character was annoying, and frankly, kind of insufferable. I didn't understand her or her motivations at all. She constantly did the stupidest things imaginable, and caused the girl she really liked nothing but heartache. She had a few nice moments here and there, but not enough to make me like her. She also just ditches her best friends that she's known her whole life for some dude she just met. Ugggh

David's main character was okay, nothing spectacular. He also wasn't super memorable, I literally cannot conjure up his name at all. His best friend/love interest character was just plain awful. I hated his guts so, so, SO much. He did nothing but play with the mc's heart and then toss him aside when a better offer came up. But the worst part was how in the end, when our mc was being a good guy, coming over and trying to be there for this dick when he needed it, the douche also invites his new boyfriend over. Our mc has to sit there with the two of them while he still clearly loves this asshole. And to top it all off, he just becomes suddenly okay with it? I'm sorry, WHAT!?!?

I plan to read some other stories by Nina and David, and hopefully they'll be better than this one.

i love katie, i love mark, i love their friendship. wlw and mlm solidarity.

this was so sweet and pure, the importance of friendships and the how they are as important (if not more) than romantic relationships. the whole time i was reading this, i could picture it being a movie and i am desperate for it. i think it would heal my lonely gay teenage self

I did say it was going to be a five star read, but towards the end, I had to deduct a .5 because I feel like this book is truly unfinished. Such a great story with an amazing tone and setting to go with it. The writing was impeccable but the ending was just too abrupt.

Fast, engaging, fun read. A sweet meditation on friendship in varying forms and what it means to learn about oneself. Plus I love everything that David Levithan writes, and I'm excited to have been exposed to Nina LaCour!

This book needs to get the Love, Simon treatment ASAP.

Heartfelt at times, or corny, this was a solid Pride themed read.
