one of my favorites from my teen years, read it twice in high school and it was the inspiration behind my first tattoo. i would be interested to read it again one day as an adult and see if my thoughts have changed at all.

This book was amazing. It was everything I had been told and more!
I'm not the sort of person to make a habit of reading books over and over again, but I would read it everyday if I could. I couldn't read it fast enough; the minute I finished it I wanted to start again.
Francine Rivers crafted a dark and beautiful story of how God's love, true love and self love can 'save the soul that's nearest hell'(as the saying goes). Now I understand why its such a classic and why so many of the women I love told me to read it and devour both the narrative and God's truth within the story.
Oh, me of little faith.

As a Christian, I thought this was the most beautiful love story and such a well-written book.
Now all I can see is a man who refuses to take “no” for an answer, lots of tropes, and another Francine Rivers book with an agenda.

I told someone that this book breaks your heart and puts it back together, more than once. I loved it.
So i actually gave this 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the book. I think it was a pretty good display of God’s relentless love. I found myself super frustrated with Angel through most of the book but I also understood.
The first time I read this book I too dreamed of a Michael to save me and to love me. However, in the place I am now, I know that God is that for me.

A beautiful story! I enjoyed this mainly for the theme of redemption, how God never leaves you no matter how far you stray and He will always welcome you back even if you deem yourself irredeemable. I liked our main character Sarah/Angel. Her story was a bit difficult because it focuses entirely on her trauma and the horrific things she has endured from her childhood up to meeting Michael. Her struggle with feeling worthy of anything other than what she had was so well written. There were some aspects of the book that I didn’t enjoy so much such as the repetitiveness of her running away and sometimes that romance was insta-lovey. However, more than a romance between Sarah and Michael, I more-so view this book as a relationship between Sarah, her past, her future, and God. 4 stars! ❤️
