Wolf Bride
4 Stars

Promised in marriage to one of King Henry VIII's most renowned soldiers, Lord Wolf, Eloise Tyrrell is determined to never give him her heart despite their intense attraction. Eloise, a lady in waiting to Anne Boleyn, is well aware of what happens to a woman when her husband tires of her, and she has no intention of meeting the same fate as her queen...

Moss's attention to historical detail is impeccable. The realistic portrayals of the intrigue of Henry VIII's court together with the descriptions of settings, clothing, mannerisms, and attitudes make the Tudor era come alive on the page.

The romance between the powerful and enigmatic Lord Wolf and the spirited Eloise is charming although not anything that hasn't been done before. Moss thankfully avoids the silly misunderstandings trope that can be exceedingly annoying in these types of romances. That said, both Eloise and Wolf are overly stubborn and prideful. An open and honest conversation early on could have saved them both a great deal of angst.

Finally, while their relationship is not nearly as erotic as the "Fifty Shades of Tudor sex" promo suggests, Wolf and Eloise have great chemistry and their sex scenes do contribute to the formation of their emotional bond.

All in all, a well-written and historically accurate romance, and I look forward to reading the next book focusing on Eloise's sister, Savannah, and the King's clerk, Hugh Beaufort (Is he one of "the" Beauforts, I wonder?).

Wolf Bride by Elizabeth Moss was a book I came across due to a book blogger friend’s review. I have to admit, I love everything tied to the Tudors and at first I glance I almost passed this one up but after reading the review, I went ahead and requested it. If you love the story of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn you might enjoy this story. They both make appearances and while they aren’t what I would consider the main characters, both Eloise and Wolf are tied to the royal family.

Wolf Bride is the story of Eloise Tyrell, a lady-in-waiting to Anne Boleyn, and Lord Wolf, one of the King’s favored soldiers. Lord Wolf is ready to marry and having grown up near the Tyrell’s he decides to negotiate with Eloise’s father for her hand. Unfortunately for Eloise, she had her eye on someone else and when she is told about her upcoming betrothal, she isn’t exactly excited about it. With that said, she accepts the decision but Wolf does not make it easy.

As the story continues, they both make mistakes in their interactions with each other and a little conversation could have probably fixed some of the problems. As they both figure out how to live with each other, they are pulled into the drama of what is happening with Henry and Anne. As Anne’s lady-in-waiting, Thomas Cromwell is looking to question Eloise about Anne’s activities while married to Henry.

Navigating the politics of the royal court as well as a new marriage isn’t easy for either of these two but they continue to be drawn to each other and work to figure out what to do in order to get back to their manor in the North and away from the danger of the court. One thing is certain, regardless of their feelings toward each other, their chemistry is there and the only thing that might have made it better was if I was more invested in either of these characters.

Overall I enjoyed this book. It has a great mix of history tied into a fictional story and Moss has created the beginnings of a solid series. I am definitely interested to see where Moss takes the story with Eloise’s sister as she was one of the more interesting characters introduced in this book. Consider checking this one out if you enjoy a historical that has an interesting story and some definitely hot times.

"Hilary Mantel meets Sylvia Day" I'm laughing, its so absurd and a joke, the plot use the bare minimum of historical context to make a mediocre story that basically is all just about porn sex ,set in Tudor England times.
I was searching for light and futile reads but this is so bad...

Wolf Bride was a fun and exciting read. It took me back to the Tudor Era, which is one of my favorites, while Anne Boleyn still lived. She is very much a background character, but her death plays an important role in showing the character of our heroine, Eloise Tyrell.

When Anne Boleyn is accused of treason, all of her close friends and servants were under scrutiny for the same, and Eloise was no exception. Navigating the court and intrigue has never been more difficult or dangerous. This was by far my favorite aspect of the story.

The romance, while it was written to be the main stage, fell into second place for me. Eloise and Lord Wolf definitely had a bit of a spark between them, but they were both too stubborn and unwilling to listen to each other for me to truly root for. Lord wolf was very overbearing, and while Elizabeth Moss tried valiantly to make it come off as dominant, there were many times it just came off as him being a mean jerk.

This was also far more of an erotic read than most historicals tend to be - intentionally so. I think it could have been toned down with more time given to our characters growing, but for readers of the hotter contemporary that are looking to try a historical - this may be the one that draws you in.

I enjoyed this story for the non-romance aspects, and I did continue reading and enjoying it. Watch for my reviews of the rest of the Lust in the Tudor Court series soon.

Doing the audible challenge and reading something from each category isn’t as easy as one might think. I am not a huge fan of historical romance, but I am going in open minded.

That being said I really enjoyed this book. Eloise isn’t a timid female in the least, she might be a little naive about somethings but she sure learns fast.

I like that it wasn’t love at first sight and that Lord Wolf and Eloise had to get to know each other he might have been all, I MAN and everything but when it comes right down to it he was very in tuned to her and I liked that.

Trust didn’t happen right away or even for quite a long time and I think that made me like this book because to me that was very believable and not so farfetched.

I really enjoyed the narration too; the accents and the tone she uses were perfect for this story.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I listened to this for the Audible Romance Category challenge and I enjoyed it. It was a little slow but once it picked up I really enjoyed it. The characters were a little too much drama for me but once they finally figure things out they were sweet and sexy. I enjoyed the ending enough to go straight to book 2 because I wanted to know Susannah's story.

The narration was ok. I didn't love her male voice but it didn't ruin the story for me and by the end I forgot all about not liking it.
