Really enjoyable characters and a bit of a twist on the traditional procedural crime thriller. Plus, there’s a dog.

It was an enjoyable read and I didnt catch on to the killer until the very end which is a plus in my book.

One thing I noticed is that conversations almost ALWAYS included someone grunting. “She grunted her approval” “he grunted acceptance” why!? Surely these characters aren’t out here grunting like cavemen….

THIS IS ONE HELL OF A BOOK...... I LITERALLY CUDNT PUT IT DOWN...

Not my typical genre but a friend recommended it and I found it interesting and a fast read.

It was a very well written just not my normal style of fiction. I couldn't quite finish it fully but got to the last 50 pages before I couldn't read anymore. Its a good read just some of the topics are hard.

Fun, fast-paced read. Cooper's style is crisp and vivid; painting a clear picture without indulging in overly-descriptive narrative. The story moves quickly, and it's easy to invest in our main character, Sayer Altair. Cooper's supporting characters are three-dimensional and immediately sympathetic. A twisty, smart, and sinister thriller that kept me engaged page after page. Looking forward to following more of Altair's cases.

An interesting lead character. It’s great to have a smart, capable, kick ass female lead. And a woman of color. But must she be so damaged? Must she be so neglecting of herself?
Good support characters, with a bit of an overkill on grandma...
A good mystery with many red herrings. Some situations were so predictable, Sayer should have made the connections. I Definitely did not guess the “bad guy”. The action is well spaced in the story, with some edge of your seat scenarios.

It lost credibility with the puppy story line. The puppy was not taken to a vet, after almost dying, dehydrated and starved. But it immediately perks up to be house trained, well behaved, and an attack dog?. Sayer barely could take care of herself, I wouldn’t give her a dog

Creepy!
