I love this series! LOVE LOVE LOVE! My enthusiasm may seem a bit unwarranted for a kids book, but who says adults have to outgrow kiddie fiction? I hope I never do.
This installment of the "Land of Stories" is just as magical, funny, and full of great world building as all the others. Colfer continues to tie classic stories together in a way that so wonderful and surprising that I just can't stop reading them once I start.
What's not to love about a fairy tale world with all of our favorite childhood stories, right? Well add a delightful little potion that creates a portal out of any (yes any!) book and you have something so much more amazing on your hands.
The characters are loveable, even to an extent - the villains. Colfer creates backstories and motivations for them all. I'm a big sucker for villainy with a purpose.

I liked this book, but I do feel like this one is a lot of prep work for the next book. I also think there’s not a lot of payoff in comparison to the other books in the series.
