Wow, oh wow! This was amazing! After having read the divergent series I did struggle getting into this book, but once I got to know the characters I got into it more. In a way it reminds me of Ancient Rome's barbaric games when gladiators had to duel each other, sometimes to the death. Cyra's brother, Ryzek Noavek, reminds me so much of a Roman emperor like Nero or Caligula, as did their father. Its a book I'd definitely read again!

DID NOT FINISH

I just really couldn't get into the plot, and later heard that the author was racist so DNF

I can’t say anything really about the writing or the story. Both were interesting and the writing was good. For some reason I just couldn’t get into the book and really enjoy it. I never finished it, made it maybe half way through.

I didn't read anything about this before starting the book and I was pleasantly surprised, on occasion the pacing was a touch slow but overall solid. Usually with YA I don't care if I read the sequel but this one is set up well and is intriguing and I can't wait for the sequel.

Obvious spoiler down there⬇

Ok, that was cool I like Cyra she is so powerful:)
So the book was good, but I didn't see here where the things came from. Ok, Cyra stayed why she hates her brother and everything, but out of nowhere, she joins the rebellion and try to kill her brother. also, Cyra and Akos had spent together like a year or more, and we just had a really little part of that. It just said a few months later or something. It could have more about how they get the bond. So summarizing, their actions had very few reasons. I'd give it a light four
