Gender is a social construct. Required reading for anyone who can read (especially J.K Rowling )❤️

Love this.

Definitely want to have this in my classroom if I ever teach middle school or high school.

Cuttlefish are a bit on the gender fluid side, at least when trying to trick female cuttlefish to mate with them. They will appear as female, one one side, to fool the males to let their guard down. They will appear male, on one side, to trick females.

This book goes through a lot of the terms people are using for being gender neutral, as well as all asepcts of gender, sexuality, and all parts in between.

There are sections on sexism, and straight white males not listening.

And there is also a part where the author shows why she knows about a lot of the things, and how tis as affected her life. She discusses her anorexia, and her top surgery.

Well thought out, a huge asset for any library.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

This is an excellent introduction to sex and gender issues. Very handy definitions of terminology. Iris confronts the issues in an easy to understand manner as she does not shy away from the complexities of the topics.

A beautifully illustrated introduction to gender expression and identity, adding focus also to how those identities can intersect with race, class, disability etc.

I would say, that for those who have already done some reading in this area it is only aiming to give an overview of key topics and issues within this intersectional look at gender.
