A really accessible introduction to gender, feminism and intersectionality. I can see this being useful for families, schools, rainbow groups etc as it has single page introductions to a lot of important topics, which could become useful discussing points or spaces to kick off Adirondack research. The recommended resources at the end are also useful.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the depth that this illustrated guide covered. I love that Iris wasn’t afraid to talk about all the underlying realities that impact gender.
They had a whole page specifically focusing on Residential Schools and the impact it had on gender roles within the Indigenous Community, which I was surprised but VERY pleased to see featured!
My only critique is that, unsurprisingly, the text has a fairly strong left bias which meant that there were some topics covered that lacked nuance and/or weren’t covered at all. (Religion being a big one.)
I LOVED Iris’s personal story that was included at the end. Representation matters and having a personal account of her experience going through top surgery was so interesting and a perspective that I’m so happy exists and can be accessed. It gives me hope.

Amazingly informative book. Captures intersectionality. I will be adding this to my classroom library when I go back to teaching

It was sometimes a bit all over the place, but overall really good.

A good beginners guide to gender and all the ways it affects our lives. For me, not a whole lot of new information and some sections were stronger than others.
