Typical Scarpetta tale, with many surprises amidst political intrigue and grotesque villains. A bit unbelievable, but never dull.

this book was amazing! I couldn't put it down! This is the first book I've ever read in this series, but it's definitely not the last.

I haven't read any other book in the series and even though the story is still fine I feel like I should have started at the beginning.
I would say that this focuses in on violence more than I like for purposes of character building, to show how evil a character is or how much a character has gone through and I prefer other manners of showing those traits.

This is a pretty good recovery from Port Mortuary which seemed to be a long and rambling book about very little, apart from a completely reinvented military past that we've never heard of in the previous 18 books.

Probably not fair to rate since I didn't finish. But it was boring. So sad since the early books in this series were vg.

Not sure how I missed this one in the actual reading order. Maybe it was because I was over the over drama, vindictive, dark & aggressive turn these later books have turned into.

I have to say, I'm glad I took the time to listen to this one. While it definitely has it's moments of being irritating, I actually really enjoyed this one. In a moment of ... I'm going to do things my way, and you can't tell me what to do Benton ... Kay finds herself in Georgia, fresh off of Dawn Kincaid's attempted murder and the death of Jack Fielding. Smack dab where forces in play, that she wasn't aware of, want her.

A shady warden, Jamie Berger, and suspicious deaths that lead to a serial poisoner. I loved the local medical examiner Colin Dengate. The door was left open for a possible reappearance. I hope so, because he works well with Kay.

I love the Kay Scarpetta series. I don't think I stared right at the start but I haven't missed much. This book was particularly good and I really enjoyed reading it. Not as much character development and backstory as some but a great mystery.

Not gonna lie the only interesting part of this book was the last 100 pages the first 400 just dragged along and I honestly considered dnfing this book 3/4 times. I felt like the story was really draw out for no particular reason and it definitely didn’t need to be 500 pages long. Also the ending/killer is extremely predictable I literally called it in the first 100 pages.

Overall I was a slow af book with a very predictable end and I will never be putting myself through this book again.
