Just ok. It was slow and I felt nothing happened. The blurb promised a mystery and there was none, everyone overcame their issues with no drama, there was just no tension at all. Only a lot of predictability.

While I was reading this it seemed really familiar and I thought I had read this before. In fact, I'm sure I have. It is so well written though, that I just had to keep reading. I don't often reread, but if a book is well written, as is the case with this one, I will. It is definitely well worth the re-read.

Started out verrrryyy slow for me, but picked up after about five chapters. Felt a little more chick lit than romance (although, yes, that is a fine line) for most of the book. The pairing itself was good -- I did like Olivia a lot, and I loved Connor. The thing that I didn't like was that,
Spoilerthroughout the whole book we keep hearing about how Connor was the behind the most humiliating experience of Olivia's life -- and experience that has haunted her since it happened -- and then, after about 500 pages, it was resolved in two, and even those were partially indirect due to a conversation Olivia had with someone else. I wanted the resolution to cause sparks and tension between Olivia and Connor, not anyone else. And I wanted the making up that came with that.

SpoilerI was glad that at the end I got my romance HEA, but I wanted a little bit more togetherness there as well. Especially because the build-up was so much more thorough than in more conventionally sized romance books. Overall, however, I did enjoy the book and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Fun romance, I don't usually like contemporary romances, but Wiggs' books are fun reads.

This was good enough to finish reading. Although woefully predictable, the characters acquired a little depth and the writing was (mostly) graceful. Apparently it's the first in a series, which suggests why it was free on amazon.com.

Pretty much skimmed the last 100 pages. I really like Connor. I understand this is the basis for a series, but this is about 200 pages too long. I enjoyed the flashbacks to camp, so that saved it a bit. Full review to come. Read for book club & Reading Romance for grad school.

This review covers all of the books in the Willow Lake series. First off, great marketing ploy to offer the first for free on the Kindle. Worked lie a charm on me and I got hooked and bought the rest. Smart move.

I'm really into series books this year for some reason. These light reads fit in perfectly and while they got a bit tedious at some points, I mostly enjoyed reading about the lives and community of Willow Lake. I really really REALLY want to visit Camp Kioga. Just wish it were a real place...

The main problem I had with these books was a pretty big one, in my opinion. There are numerous inconsistencies. It starts off in the second book, The Winter Lodge. Jenny's middle name is different . Then, throughout the rest of the series, little facts would differ from one story to the next. I can't remember which book it is at the moment, but there was one story that was different at the end of the book from the beginning. I understand that when writing a long series some stories may accidentally change, or change to fit the current story, especially when writing other books in between. But I don't find this to be acceptable. I remember one story of a first meeting, or encounter or some sort, that was different in a later book and it was obvious that the current story fit the current storyline better. But with just a slight tweak, it could have remained true to the original telling and not compromise the story. I don't exactly blame Wiggs, but her editors should be ashamed of themselves.

A free on Kindle book that I really enjoyed. I'm not really into romance books but I cared about the characters and the story-line kept me entertained.
