Finally we get the second part of Kinsey and Ben's story! Nora left us on a minor cliffhanger in the first book so I was anxious to get a hold of this one, and in the end I was up reading until 4 am because I couldn’t put it down.
Whereas the first book was a bit of a slow burn to show the development between Kinsey and Ben, the pace definitely increased in this one - and it got sizzling hot! The darker themes of Kinsey's past are still present, but there's a lot more comfort and healing than hurt in this part, and the triggering subjects are handled really well by the author.
I loved Kinsey and Ben's story and development, it was everything I had hoped for and more! Their open and honest communication was beautiful and I really liked that Kinsey found his own way and managed to stand up for himself with Ben's help and support. The daddy/boy dynamic felt natural between the characters, I adored the little visit by a couple from another one of Nora’s series, it was a nice touch and a great way for Kinsey to find out what was missing in his dynamic with Ben.
This duology overall felt realistic and it's such a strong and beautiful story about living your own truth even if that deviates from society's norms or what you were raised to believe. Kinsey's past and struggles will break your heart, but his present and future with Ben will put it back together again.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than book 1. I loved the character development and the conversation with his son was well done.
The main thing that made this reading experience frustrating was the time jump between chapters. I think it's my biggest pet peeve when it's done like this. When you're interrupting the sequence of events between big moments. I guess the author was going for suspense but it was just annoying and it seemed unnecessary.

2nd Book in Duology. Kinsey and Benoni are getting closer, figuring out their feelings and relationship. Fences are being mended between Kinsey, his kids, ex wife and even with his past as a teen. Kinsey is starting to feel "whole" again.
Ends in HEA, would recommend.

This review will sum up both books in this duology.
Kinsey's story was amazing. I have never read about addiction, really, so that was insteresting, and while I felt the religious trauma was a little heavy, I acknowledge that it is an issue for many.
However, Benoni definitely played second fiddle to Kinsey. Sometimes, he was just there. I don't really feel like I got to know him as anything other than Kinsey's daddy and Jonathan's friend.
Lastly, I will most likely never love when the younger person is the daddy. Something happens to the way the boy acts that I have trouble connection to the older partner - especially with such a big age gap as is here. It maybe played a little too heavily into Kinsey's inexperience, but not in a way that I could connect with.
