I'd read Stephen King's "11/22/63", who referenced this book in the acknowledgments as being one of the best time travel novels. So I picked it up for my next read from the Library.
The plot plods along detailing everything in the 1880's.
The method of time-travel is hypnosis. HYPNOSIS. Even the back cover says something along the lines of the time traveler 'returns' with drawings - so he must have been in past.
I've read a lot of horror, fantasy, and science fiction so I'm used to accepting unusual premises but I just could not buy into using hypnosis as a device to time-travel. I quit at about page 110.

Eh. Not really my type of book, but I enjoyed the store. The drawings made the book even more fun.

This is one of the better time travel books out there. Delicious!

Second time reading this one. I read it years ago and it has stuck with me. Still good. I love the premise and descriptions of New York.

Could not bring myself to read this boring boring book. I love time travel stories, but there is so much leading up to any sort of action that I couldn't tell you how the "action" is because I never got that far. I started skimming pages and pages an still nothing. Bah!

I wanted to like this book but I found nothing it in that compelled me to go on. I wasn't drawn to the old New York aesthetic and I didn't like the characters or the mode of time travel.

Loved the story but my enjoyment of this book was marred by its illustrations that were from the wrong time period. Hoping that has been corrected in subsequent editions.
