Sirsnīga grāmata par mazdēlu un vectēvu, kā mazdēls vēlējās no sirds iepriecināt slimnīcā guļošo vectēvu. Pašam stāstam likās, ka kaut kā pietrūka starpā vai arī prasījās divu nodaļu pagarinājumu pēc kulminācijas.

“Vai cilvēks var mīlēt kādu, kurš ir miris?”
Silts stāsts par attiecībām ģimenē - tēvs ar dēlu, vectētiņš ar savu nu jau mirušo sievu, bet visa centrā mazdēls ar vectētiņu - brīdi pirms vectētiņš aizbēg pavisam.
Vectētiņš - lādās kā vecs jūrnieks un ir mūžam neapmierināts, bet zin (un cer), ka drīz no šīs pasaules pārcelsies uz debesīm, kur satiks vecmāmiņu, kas šobrīd dzīvo vairs tikai pēdējā brūkleņu zaptes burkā. Un līdz brīdim, kad vectēvs nokļūs debesīs - ir svarīgs uzdevums - viņš vēlas iemācīties runāt skaisti un vectēva atbalsts un palīgs ir mazdēls - mazais Gotfrīds.
Tēma skumja, bet uzrakstīta sirsnīgi, plūstoši un bez smaguma.
Jāatzīst, ka grāmatas beigās, kad dēls uzlika savu roku uz tēva rokas un, šķiet, abi saprata, ka neizbēgamais ir tuvu - kamols kaklā sakāpa, bet bērni skumjas īsti neuztvēra. Lielais dēls (5 gadi) stāstu uztvēra (saprata) labāk, mazajam (4 gadi) stāsts tik lielu interesi šobrīd vēl neradīja, taču grāmatas nosaukumu novērtēja abi un par grāmatas labāko daļu atzina vectēva un mazdēla bēgšanu un braukšanu ar kuģi.
Manuprāt, lieliska grāmata ar kuras palīdzību runāt ar bērniem par nāvi un, kas paliek pēc mums.

man ļoti patīk grāmatas par vectēviem, kas ir īgni, bet patiesībā viss tikai tāpēc, ka sirds mazliet ieplīsusi. tādos brīžos ir labi, ka ir mazdēls, kas palīdz bēgt ..

Really interesting adventure story. I loved the humor in the book and the adventure and most importantly the love between a grandfather and his grandson.

Detta var utan tvekan en av (om inte den) finaste barnboken jag läst. Läste hela med vårsolen i ansiktet och jag log mig igenom nästan hela boken. Så fint skriven och det existentiella är närvarande men ändå förståeligt för yngre läsare. Vänskapen mellan farfar och sonson är hjärtevärmande och hur farfar pratar om farmor och lingonsylten värmde enda in i själen<3

What a cute story!!! Quite funny too! A grumpy grandpa at the hospital runs away with the help of his grandson to visit one last time his house.
It's also a moving story about the end of life. About intergenerational relationship. I liked the illustrations by Kitty Crowther, especially when they were of the landscape.

Tik ļoti feins, saukšu to par stāstu, kas jāizlasa pieaugušajiem un būs ļoti interesants arī bērniem. Liek aizdomāties par pamatvērtībām. Ļoti sirsnīgi un aizķer kādu stīgu. Vectēva ar mazdēlu!

This is an odd little book about how three generations deal with growing old. The boy, Gottfried Jr. likes his grandfather no matter if he swears and is grumpy or not. That is the way he has always known him, and that is what he is familiar with. His father, on the other hand, can't deal with his father swearing, and with him getting old and dying. He would rather ignore the problem completely.
So, the boy and his grandfather devise an elaborate plan to run away, just for the weekend. And the only clue that this is happening in Sweden is they run away to a country home in the archipelago.
There are some sweet moments, despite the grumpy grandfather, such as when Adam, not his real name, helps drive the get away van. I also enjoyed how the grandfather talked about creating jam, that when the grandmother created the jam, she put a little bit of herself in it.
It is both sad, and sweet, both cute, and cleaver. The family is real, especially the boy and his grandfather, and the story is totally plausible, though the parents are a bit clueless, as parents are in this sort of situation.
I would recommend this book as a great one for reading any time, but also as a way to talk about death and dying.
