I had so many problems with this book and I think the main one was that at one point or another in the book everyone was unemployed. Also I'm pretty sure I'm still missing something from that book for it to make sense.

I really tried to get into this book since I love her previous one:(

Edwards has a good story to tell but her writing is so overly descriptive that the plot moves at a snail's pace. (For example, she feels it necessary to describe that the papers a character picks up as she gets out of the car are still slightly warm from the sun.) The slow pace would be okay if the characters were developing along the way but Lucy Jarrett is just sort of spinning her wheels, going over and over the same ideas in her head and the other characters never really develop at all. A long list of deceased characters who have questionable influence on the story (should I try to remember this person's name or not?) doesn't help.

Love these type of books. Not so much mystery to solve, as much as clues to uncover from the past.

I waited way too long to review this b/c I don't remember much about it. I remember liking it, but not loving it. I think if you like art this would be right up your alley

Hated this book, took everything in me to finish it

I really want to give this more than 5 stars. I just love Lucy's character. I admired how she handled the information she was given about Iris and her family. This is one of the best books I've read this year.

I have had this book sitting on my bookshelf for some time and I am wishing now I had read it sooner. I was attracted to the cover and after reading the synopsis I was intrigued by the family history aspect.

I found myself absorbed with Lucy’s story. The story is narrated in the first person making it easy to identify with her. The setting for the story is near water and nature which is very much brought to life by the descriptive writing. However, it is a slow build story which I found difficult at times but I stayed with it and I am glad I did.

Quit early

I'm between a 3 and a 4 star rating but I'm rounding up since I'm in a generous mood and I think I would have liked it more if I wasn't reading at last week.
