This was my first book by Judith sonnet, and all I can say is wowwww!!! This book is gory as hell, sickening, disgusting, vile, I could go on!!! The few illustrations in the books were super cool and I loved the fact that she put Icp in the book 😂. I couldn’t put this book down!!!

In my short time exploring the extreme horror genre, this has felt like the most complete book I've read, maybe The Playground too. As for The Clown Hunt, characters were established that I liked right away and was bummed out to see them go.

A very gruesome read and fun splatter. The brief instances of humor in the book didn't really land, although the Harlem Shake reference was appreciated. Was pleasant seeing a diverse cast for once in this genre. Maybe my favorite protagonist too I've come across in this genre thus far. Finished it in one sitting and would recommend.

Let me start by saying this: the trigger warnings are there for a reason. You have been warned.
This is my second foray into the extreme horror/Splatterpunk genre this year and it was a more successful outing.

I went into this one blind and it went in a direction i wasn’t expecting at all, so that was a pleasant surprise. Probably the only pleasant thing about this book though! By that I don’t mean it wasn’t a good book, just that it wasn’t pleasant.

What I liked here is very contrasting to my last splatterpunk read -plot. This was a novel that very much delivered on the extreme side of things from the get go and was truly horrific at times but also had a good plot to go with it.
I found the writing to be detailed and well put together, with depth and backstory outside of the ‘main event’. Sonnet has an excellent grasp on character interaction and the dialogue is great. The use of graphic content is delivered as you would expect, but it had a solid plot to carry it. The story felt complete and tied things up well too.

wasn't for me. the writing wasn't anything phenomenal and the story was just ok. I've decided I'm just not an extreme horror/gore girl and that's ok.
(also, mixing it with child and sexual themes seems to get strangely into fetish territory and I'm not into that thank you very much)
