It took me over a month to finish this. And not because it was bad. It’s a good story. I just couldn’t make myself pick it up. I lost interest at about 60%. But, I pushed through & loved the ending. There was nothing wrong with this book!! I don’t know what made it so hard to finish. 4 confused ⭐️’s.

Entertaining is the best compliment I can give. The banter was lacking and the spice is minimal and very staggered. The story and the writing feel so rushed and half-assed, it’s like reading a Lifetime movie. But dive in if you’re not feeling particularly discerning.

This week I had an Audible credit burning a hole in my pocket, and I was so excited to see that Lauren Blakely's newest romantic comedy Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend was a dual POV done duet style by fan favorites Andi Arndt and Shane East. East's British accent makes me positively swoon so I was so excited to download the book and take off on my nightly walk. Blakely is one of my favorite one-click authors because she never fails to deliver top-notch romance with clever characters and unique storylines. Summer and Oliver witty and flirty and I adored their friendship and closeness. I love how Blakely revisits characters and settings from the previous books in the world she has created (Gin Joint!)- those little Easter eggs always make me smile. If you listen to the audiobook, make sure you listen past the end of the book- Arndt and East treat us to some bloopers and we get to sit in on a great little chat between the two pro narrators. Such a treat!

Oliver and Summer's friends to lovers story is sweet and steamy and simply a great book to read anytime around, faking an engagement should become with a warning, but these two didn't get it. A sizzling chemistry that will drive them closer and have you reading with a smile on your face and pulling an all night to finish it. I definitely recommend it, and the audiobook as well.

Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend is the cutest, dreamiest friends to lovers, fake engagement romance. I loved this book!! It had everything I need in a Lauren Blakely book - flirty banter, amazing characters, heat and a lot of heart. Plus, a sexy brit that will absolutely make you swoon.

I love, love, looooove the relationship between Summer and Oliver. Friends since they were young, there is a natural closeness to them. It's obvious how much they like being with each other. The tension that builds as they attempt to remain only friends while pretending to be engaged is everything. My heart hurts and melts simultaneously for Oliver and his reasons why he couldn't pursue anything with Summer.

Lauren Blakey has never let me down. She continues her amazing streak of charming, entertaining, heart happy stories with Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend. I wholeheartedly recommend picking up Summer and Oliver's story.
