I devoured this. I absolutely loved this book, though I can recognize it won’t be for everyone. Those who get it, get it. And those who don’t, honestly, you’re lucky. If you have panic attacks, obsess over death, have depression or suicidal ideations, religious trauma, struggle with addiction, or feel things deeply, this may or may not be for you. I can see how it might be difficult to read, but it also might make you feel seen

As an atheist lesbian who has non-debilitating anxiety, this book brought up some stuff for me. I have already been thinking so much about death due to the ongoing genocide of Palestinians, but this book made me more anxious. But it’s also hopeful and the ending scene is perfect and the whole book reminds us that life, though fleeting, is precious

This book was at times deeply uncomfortable, but I think that’s what the author was going for. It sparked thoughts about how we can do so much better as a society when it comes to people facing mental illnesses.

this is a quick, engaging read but good lord is it miserable. it’s uncomfortable and all over the place and the vignettes bounce around like pinball, though i acknowledge a lot of this is on purpose. i found a lot of it bordered on misanthropic and the ending speeds through tying loose ends like a bullet train. i didn’t hate it but i didn’t really like it either.

listen okay i fully have anxiety and ocd (which gilda must have given all her intrusive thoughts) and i thought this was just sad and boring and annoying mostly. not shade to you emily austin i just need books with less unsympathetic and annoying main characters. the ending was nice im glad they’re still together i was worried about that.

This book dug into the anxious parts of my brain and ripped out the intrusive thoughts, the paranoia, the overthinking, and put them into the main character, Gilda. I couldn’t put this down.

Probably one of the most relatable books I've read
(maybe don't read it if you're feeling particularly anxious or depressed)
