4. 5⭐ =Good...bordering on Very Good.
Paperback.
Having seen the film and stage version, I was unsure if I would enjoy this(although to be honest, despite loving plays and music of all genres, musicals are not really my 'bag').I need not have worried, this was a great book!
Quick to read but with plenty of emotion. This really set the scene on the dreadful anxieties around the closure of mines in the North of England. I remember this time vividly.
What a star Billy Elliott is. Hold those dreams and with support, anything is possible. 😁

For those who love the film Billy Elliot (or even the stage musical) I would recommend giving this a read. It follows the same story (and even has a few direct quotes) but it doesn’t really expand on anything.
Remember that it is aimed at a younger audience so no swear words and a very quick and easy read.
Also note the chapters are written from different characters points of view such as Billy, Tony (Billy’s brother) and Jackie (Billy’s dad).
