Very good and meaningful book, discussing so many important topics: from family dynamics, love and moving onto class inequality, and politics, communisms praised by the educated higher class as a theory with very little practical application when confronted with age old stereotypes. My alternative title would also be pride and prejudice, it fits the book sm. Also only 4 stars because it took me so so long to go through this, which is not the fault of the writing but more like I needed to have a fresh brain for the story each time I sat down to read. Also I do not think I would recommend this book unless I knew someone was down for a difficult and emotionally hard read. Also the author made a lot of popctural references, I’m afraid that I missed so many of them (apart from the heart of darkness and the sound of music I’m sure there were tons I just didn’t get) like this was definitely an advanced reader book

Haunting. I think it's one of those books that warrants a second read, as the writing was so lyrical and dense that I think you would appreciate even more a second time.
