GOD THESE GRAPHIC NOVELS ARE SO GORGEOUS!! Im so glad the illustrator added how she does it to the back of the book. I had seriously been curious at every page. This one is packed with even more heart and sneak peaks of mysteries to come… so glad I started reading these.

It's The Adventure Zone. It's exactly as good as expected. A little extra love for Carey Pietsch, great job.

Anyone that knows me knows I am a huge fan of the McElroy's podcasts, especially MBMBAM and The Adventure Zone. The Adventure Zone is what got me interested in DnD, and has made me 2 great friends along the way! So my excitement for this new installation in their graphic novel adaptations of the Balance arc was huge. And now I've read it! I think they did a great job condensing this arc down. As one of the longer arcs in Balance, I felt it dragged a few times in the podcast. But this graphic novel did a great job of keeping the pace up. There was mystery, romance, fighting, humor, and beautifully heartfelt moments. I teared up at the end. I cannot wait for the next one to come out. The further along we get in the story, the more excited I get for each additional installment. Anyone that hasn't listened to this podcast, you should. But if it's not something you can commit to, then you should at least read these graphic novels. They're incredible.

TW: death, amputation, violence

I loved this next book in the TAZ series! The Crystal Kingdom had the same level of humor and adventure, paired with Carey Pietsch's beautiful art. It is great to see how the story is progressing, and we got to meet some of my favorite characters in this arc. As usual, the inclusion of diversity was wonderful to see, the jokes balanced out the more serious moments well, and the whole thing was a lot of fun to read.

SpoilerI especially loved Kravitz's design, the description "super handsome face" isn't a lot to go on, but Carey Pietsch really nailed it. I love all the little details added, like his skull socks, and his different forms from 'human' to 'skeleton'.

It is also really cool to see how they change aspects of the story, not only to better fit the medium, but also with the added knowledge of where the story is going to end up (something they didn't entirely have when making the podcast). I loved all the bits of foreshadowing added, and how they adjusted certain character arcs
Spoileri.e. showing Killion and Carey's relationship and Taako and Kravitz's relationship developing or starting sooner. Those moments were very sweet
. And of course not everything from the podcast can make it into the graphic novel, but I liked how some of the things left out were still referenced in the artwork.

I absolutely cannot wait for the next one in the series, especially since the next arc is one of my favorite ones.
