Before you end up spiraling on Google like I did—yes, this book is set on a fictional island somewhere in the Atlantic between the US and UK. Now that that’s out of the way…

This exes-to-lovers romance completely hooked me. Betrayal delivers drama, tension, and just the right amount of heat. Heath and Walker? Meant. To. Be. The chemistry was electric, and let’s be honest—they never stood a chance at staying apart.

Think Gossip Girl meets high-stakes romance: socialites who spend their days sipping cocktails, playing poker, and scheming revenge as part of their weekly routine.

The writing is sharp and witty, with seamless UK/US slang and banter that felt natural and addictive. I genuinely couldn't put it down.

If you’re into intense chemistry, high-society drama, and deliciously messy second-chance romance, Betrayal is for you.

Also, if (like me) you got very attached to the side characters, you’ll be happy to know that Lux’s book—Queen of Vengeance—releases July 1st, and I’ll be first in line.

DID NOT FINISH: 70%

I didn’t finish this book because I was not engaged with the characters. I didn’t really care what happened to them. They were rich, uncaring, and shallow. I’ve read billionaire romances and would have liked to be friends with some of them. Not this bunch of rich children even though they are in their mid twenties.

3.50 ✨

Overall: I thought this was a solid read. The plot was good, and the characters were very interesting. I liked having 6 characters in the friend group, which made everyone feel a little more well-rounded.

Tropes:
❤️‍🔥 second chance romance
🖤 revenge plots
❤️‍🔥 millionaire spice
🖤 found family
❤️‍🔥 forced proximity
🖤 dark academia vibes

Bookish Thoughts: While the world and plot were interesting to me, and getting to know the characters was enjoyable, I struggled a lot with how much of the story was ultimately based on miscommunication between the characters. There was misleading info, outright lying, and lots of angsty interruptions.

At first I thought the angst level was okay, but when we got further into story, and so much was based on not talking, I was a little frustrated. I’m just personally a bit allergic to miscommunication and third-act breakups because of them. 😅

I am going to continue the series. I think the other characters into the friend group are interesting, and now that the gang is all back together in Wesbourne, I’m looking forward to seeing how they all interact and what other shenanigans they get into together!

Also, there were so many good spicy scenes in this book! That f it moment in the archives had me absolutely swoooooning. ❤️‍🔥

Not a clue how to rate this one tbh. I hated all the characters and didn't like the revenge plot at all. At the same time I had a hard time putting it down, and read the last 2 hours without a break.

I read it in preparation for the ARC of book 2.
