This series continues to heal the trauma of a Southern Christianity upbringing in a way that I didn’t know I needed <3

Ugh, purity culture. Talk about trauma. I too was raised in a strict Christian church that did not allow boys and girls to mix too much, if you wanted to date someone the boy had to approach the elders for permission - who would then arrange the date with the girl. Chaperoned, of course! I remember one Sunday School class when our Sunday School teacher brought her wedding dress in and told us we had to be pure white like her dress until marriage

we as a community need to stop praising books for their tropes or the potential promised in their concepts and take a fat hard look at the writing instead — which, in this particular one: not Good. this was so bad it wouldn’t even occur to me to wipe my ass with this book. it’d be offensive to my shit.

After enjoying the first book in this series so much, I was severely disappointed by this one. Love interest was manipulative and although he apologized for it at the end, it did not reedem him in my eyes. A lot of enabling going on in this book as well and I was not a fan. 2.5 Stars

spoke too soon this is way worse. They are the most unlikeable main characters I have ever read about and the writing is atrocious. I wish I could say this is bad good but it is just so bad... I have now blocked the author on tik tok because no matter how many times I would put uninterested she would come up. The characters are freeing themselves from religious trama and i  have freed myself from her videos so small wins.
