Absolutely HATED this book! I usually find a few things I like about a story and highlight them for a review but this one has nothing for me to recommend, at all. Truly. I hated the characters, the style of writing, and the storyline-that-never-was. This is supposed to be a book about assistated suicide but 99% of it seemed to be about arranging flowers and a sickening adulterous affair between a husband and his wife's co-worker/stranger-who-has-no-allegiance-to-her-friend-or-sense-of-decency-or-morals. I hated the hoebag Mia, the unresolved marital issues, the lack of backbone in Allie and her mother-in-law Ellen, the lying-cheating-scumbag husband Cameron.... just a book filled with nothing but frustration and anger.

It was a pretty good book. There was a lot of things about the characters that I didn't like and I feel that she build up a few things and then never really did anything with it, mainly Allie and Cam's relationship. I didn't like how they ended up. I didn't see any character growth in Cam, just him feeling sorry for himself and feeling guilty, but not enough to change anything. It was one of her earlier book, and you can definitely see the change and growth in her writing style.

I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars but I wish I could have rated it 2-1/2 stars. I'm a big fan of Jodi Picoult's books but this one just didn't do it for me. Cam was a very unlikeable character and large portions of this book did not hold my interest.

WOW. This is terrible. Less than 50 pages in, and so much inexplicable weirdness has happened. Police chief/Scottish chieftain's (?!) Wifey leaves flower shop to visit him, Random Lady goes into the flower shop to make flower arrangements in the hopes of getting hired, actually gets hired for some reason, Random Lady dazzles Hubby, a dude pulls up Mean Girls-style with his dead wife in the car, Random Lady goes home with Wifey, and to end the evening Hubby fucks Wifey thinking of Random Lady because she's just *that* sexy in a nightgown. Huh?! Nooooope. Nope nope nope. NOPE.

I really enjoyed My Sister's Keeper, but I can't finish this. This reads like a terrible soap opera with flat, boring characters and stupid problems. I was looking forward to the debates around "mercy killings" or euthanasia (I believe that's the more correct term), but it's not worth the pain of reading any further, for me at least. But to be fair, one of my favourite books is Flowers in the Attic, which is arguably just as soap-operay (especially the sequel book, iykyk), so honestly, I have no judgment for anyone who loved this. Just not for me. Shame too, because I own the copy I was reading. Hopefully, some Picoult fan will pick it up from my neighbour's Little Free Library. Alas.

Got a third of the way through this and then realised I just didn't care what happened to any of the characters so have abandoned it.

2.5 I love the topic, but it was executed terribly. The affair shouldn’t have been part of the story in my opinion
