2018 review:
Zuko can't catch a break. There's always some kind of group of people that's against him. Regardless, he's still one of my favourites.

I did love to see Mei’s prime role in the first issue. Seems like one of the best the Avatar had to offer, since I read the comics. Probably, she would top second to my favorite characters. Rather because I like how cold and detached she was, yet she was still caring and sweet in the very subtle way, or much apparent in between. And, oh, yeah she gave me this sister vibes since Nancy Wheeler.
The gang wasn’t present in the middle of the conflict to the end except the start, though I was still exultant to see the others characters, especially Iroh!
And what really made me tickle here, right at my Achilee’s heel, is ZUKO! GOD HE WAS SO—-I CAN’T THINK OF THE RIGHT WORDS, BUT ZUKO, PLEASE EAT MY HEART! I’LL SACRIFICE IT WITH VERY MUCH WILLINGNESS!

At times, these post-show comics have had a loveable goofy quality that can't be avoided because it feels like a handful of kids leading a new world order, especially with Zuko on the throne. It has an energy akin to war generals being hushed to hear out a young lord's rapscallion buddies. So it seems fitting and natural that there's a secret society wanting to overthrow the government of the new Fire Nation in constant peace talks. Plus, hijinks!

Oh, this was a fantastic read, about the Fire Nation, and all the story arcs introduced have me so excited to continue!

and we're back with the fire nation kids! i'm glad to have seen mai this volume, it's been awhile.
Spoileri hope we get some explanation about her and zuko's breakup soon? i liked them together; what happened?
it looks like the comics are switching back and forth between stories about team avatar and zuko and co. so far i'm preferring the fire nation stories; they're more tightly tied to the original tv show and i've always found zuko's friends and family interesting enough to merit extra exploration. 4 stars
