There is a soft spot in my heart for Avatar. I really enjoy the immersive world, ideas, culture, and stories that the comics and television show brings. This volume was not filled with twist and turns, or amazing revelations. It was, however, filled with great characters and development. It held the story together by providing the reader with an emotional investment in the people. There were several small intriguing storylines but most of them were not held together by some amazing new scope. They were held together by characters and setting. It enthralled me enough to keep reading to the second book and that is what its job was.

The art in this issues, as always, is superb. It follows exactly what we have come to expect from the series as a whole.

Initial Thoughts

1. I loved seeing Mei, Ty Lee, and Suki
2. The plot was incrediblely interesting and mysterious
3. The story worked well in a three part structure
4. I loved seeing Zuko step up as a leader and how is always clashes with Aang

This has been my favorite of these so far, I feel like it had the best plot development, the end has some unresolved things but I know there are more books so

The kids liked it. It's another tour in the avatar verse. Fun to revisit, interesting mystery, and enjoyed the friendships as always

This one focuses more on Zuko and I’m interested to see what will happen next!

1) Iroh is always the best.

2) I don't even know what's the point of Azula anymore. She's just ridiculous at this point.
