In short, comphet the YA novel. I enjoyed it, very relatable experiences when you have low grade anxiety about being an overachiever child and decide to see what happens when you don't try so hard and the answer is that the world keeps on spinning and your dissatisfaction keeps on growing.

I kept trying to understand why I was bothering to continue reading.

Sooooo relateable it feels fake. I wish it were longer, and that we could’ve seen Mary develop a bit more - but I definitely felt seen as my adolescent, (gay unbeknownst to myself) over-achiever self.

I laughed out loud so many times, and was equal parts introspective! Hope to read more from Heaney :)

I wish I had read this at 16, but reading it at 27 does feel like a gift to my 16 year old self. Highly recommend for all those anxious overthinkers!

This book was interesting. I stopped reading YA awhile ago because some of the characters annoyed me, but I so badly wanted to be apart of my schools student-teacher book club!

I didn’t particularly love or hate this book. It was meh, to me. I felt that it was cliche in both the character types and the themes or issues presented in it. I didn’t particularly see myself in Mary. I think her epiphany came out of left field and I was a bit underwhelmed but I can see how some teens would really enjoy this book. It was definitely a coming of age novel!

It got me out of a reading slump, as I haven't finished a single book for the entire month of October. I kept starting, but school was always in the way. But I made time for this book! It was really fun and easy to read. I haven't found a coming of age book this relatable in a while, and even though my life is different from Mary's, I see myself in her and other people in her life.
Teen books usually have so many modern references that I can't help but cringe, but this book doesn't have too many it hurts.
But, the ending was a bit rushed, and I would've wanted around 100 or so more pages.
