Andrea Nash is trying to cope with all the recent and devastating changes in her life. Forced to "retire" from the Order of Knights was bad enough given that it shaped her identity. But, also having Raphael end their relationship because she chose the Order over the shape shifters was more than she deserved. Now she's working with Kate at Cutting Edge and has been handed an assignment that puts her front and center with her former lover.

This was a real treat to get a full-length novel covering Andrea and Raphael. She's as bada$$ as Kate and her relationship with Raphael was just as sensual and romantic as The Beast Lord and his "consort." The case involving the death of four shape shifters was riveting, exciting and pretty nightmarish. While the romance was in the background, it still was a shining part of the story. Andrea's backstory broke my heart and explained so much about her. Raphael's behavior put him in the jerk category for a bit and I was worried he couldn't ever dig himself out, at least with me. The climax was shocking but oh, so satisfying.

Yet again, another 5 star installment in this series. Every time I think it couldn't get any better Kate Daniels and her friends rise to the occasion. I loved this story and it's got everything I could ever want in a story.

After being kicked out of the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea’s whole life is in shambles. She is slowly putting herself back together. Working at Cutting Edge with her best friend Kate definitely helps. Now she just needs to straighten out her love life.

This story is told completely from Andrea’s POV. We see her struggle with all the changes that have happened recently in her life including her rocky relationship. I really enjoyed getting another character's POV for this series. I love Kate but sometimes I wonder what the other people are feeling. Andrea is a badass who has a lot of PTSD. Her childhood was terrible and it has caused to not trust easily.

I have liked Andrea from the beginning. She is deadly, determined and doesn’t mess around. I am glad that she finally made up with Raphael because he loosens her up a bit. That said, Raphael is still not my favorite character but I do think they make a decent couple as long as they are actually talking things out.

I do hope we get to see more of Roman in future books because he is quite interesting. I hope he has his own short story in the future. Overall, this was a great addition to the series and brings a new perspective to the world.

Trigger Warning:
- Child abused, referenced
- rape, briefly mentioned

Another book from one of my favorite authors with Andrea as the POV character, her sexy ex- Raphael and a Russian Volvh dedicated to Chernobog. What's not to like? The bonus novella "Magic Gifts" that comes in this book happens before "Gunmetal Magic" storyline, so I would recommend reading it first.

This perspective was fun and I enjoyed the little break in the series.

I have to say, this book really dragged for me. It took too long to really get into the action plot and I was uninvested in the romance plot. The characters and romance overall are just okay, but nothing stand out. The action plot was interesting but far too slow.

Didn't dig the romance, loved the adventure. Three stars.
