I had a really hard time getting into this book. It was pretty slowed paced for a big bit of the book which is not what I like in a book like this, I was rarely on the edge of my seat and really engaged in it.
But I still liked it, it kept me entertained for longer periods towards the end.
I felt somewhat connected to Kara but nobody else.
I really wished we would’ve gotten more about Marlie and her perspective.
And the whole story felt a bit confusing, like, who killed Chad (I assume Walter but it was never confirmed), and why? How did Walter know Jonas was coming that day to the ”cabin” to get the money? And there was some other things that just didn’t make sense.
But I still liked it, it kept me entertained for longer periods towards the end.

The scary parts were written very well, but the rest of the book was just eh.

Traumatized woman (re)meets slimy reporter she knew as a kid who was linked to her trauma. He is now hot. Traumatized woman is repeatedly traumatized. Traumatized woman ultimately befriends and is attracted to slimy reporter *eVeN tHo iTs a BaD iDeA* because again, he's a connection and again, he's hot now, isn't that crazy? One cop is somewhat good, one cop is forced to be good because everyone else makes them do their job to the letter. There are no winners, least of all traumatized woman.
